Seizures caused by excessive drinking & lack of food. Dt's caused by continued drinking and lack of nourishment.

Does anyone else have experience with this?

This happened to my husband in November.

He seemed ok when he came home from the hospital.

Then, when he got off his meds he went nuts....psychosis.

Blames me for his drinking.  Coming onto my daughter - he's been her dad since she was 12 -

and is disgusted.  He absolutely can't stand me.

He's taken all the money out of our accounts.

How long does this psychosis last.

He was drinking just a drink or so a day - but it's steadily creeping up.

And he's eating less.

Welcome to cronic alcohlism ,paranoia is common among alcoholics and seizures also happen it is such a shock to the system to quit drinking that often medication is needed to make it a smoother ride  , his doc should have noticed he was in trouble if he knew that your husb was a heavy drinker.  Dt's  (halucinations) shakes are also common when detoxing from alcohol .  Some times it gets worse in sobriety  the parania I mean .  So hard to qit on their own a good AA meeting he would get the help he needs and people to walk him thru it . but again nothing we can do about him .

Keep the focus on yourself ,your the only one that u have any control over . And stay safe .  Love Louise

Hi,

Please focus on yourself and take care of yourself and your daughter. Just
keep doing the next right thing.

If you don't have a savings/checking account of your own, it sounds like it's
time to open those. It's a good idea to have a safety plan for you and your
daughter.

I used to pin my car and house keys to my bra. I had a bag packed so if I
had to get out quickly, I'd have everything I needed with me. I also had a
place to go.

The disease of alcohol is so unpredictable. You might want to talk with
someone at a shelter. That doesn't mean you have to go to a shelter.
I found such knowlegeable professionals there and with their counseling,
ALANON, and open AA meetings, I found lots of help. I knew my daughter
and I could go into the shelter if I decided to. That helped me to feel more
secure and not so afraid of my AH.

Your daughter has been greatly traumatized so you need to protect her from
any more abuse from A.

Many hugs to you and keep coming back to us.
