My company laid off 12 employees today. Since I am new, I was given notice to terminate the end of February. At first I felt like HP will be opening a new door for me. Then I left work and the sadness hit. It will be interesting to see what HP has in mind for me. The funny thing is that I got the sense there was instability in the company, but kept thinking it was me. My intuition was on target yet again. So, what should I do first? Write a plan of action? Cry? Throw a party..(just kidding, can't afford that)? See...I am thinking FIRST before reacting! Isn't Al-Anon wonderful?! That is progress....thinking first before reacting and having faith in my HP.
Yes, it does feel much better. I know I needed to cry and not to hold it in, so I did just that. I just hope I don't let it get to me and wind up in a depression. Thanks for your support Christy.
Hang in there.... some of the most dissappointing events in my life have been blessings in disguise. Keep your eyes open for the blessings, you don't want to miss them.

Wishing you a short unemployment also. Good to have a positive outlook on it. I'll keep you in my prayers that the next job is just what you needed. In the meantime..remember to take care of you.
You know I was just thinking today about a woman I used to work with at the University. She got a horrible boss over time and eventually had to quit. She'd been there a long long time, had great seniority, good benefits and more. She left and temped for a while. She's now at the 2nd best company for employee's in the area. So I reminded myself of that as I slog through this plan b time. I know in time things will be better.
I feel for you embarking on a job hunt. I feel like I've done nothing but look for work for years.
Right now I have a contract job its ok. I need a permanent job really. I don't have the resources to look at the moment but in time I will be back out looking. I don't know where you live or what you are looking for. I know I looked and looked and looked for a long long time. I hope your unemployment is generous. I also hope you can come up with a plan. I wish I had had one. Once I got support things changed for me. When I had someone around who cared what my interviews were like that helped tremendously.
Thank you all so much for your support. It means more to me than you may realize. I am feeling such a calming feeling because the stress level was so high at my job. One of the women who is also being laid off came over to see me today. She told me she went to the hospital for chest pains. The physician told her it was due to stress. I am finding myself becoming aware of my sense of urgency and slowing down. Crying has done wonders for this too. I have become more intolerant of corporate america, the deadlines, the goals, the profits. Yuck! I want love, peace, calmness, and passionate people around me. This is what everyone deserves. I will miss the people I work with very much when I leave. This is what bothers me most. I should be worried about money, but it really was all about the people. God is so good when you have faith and sends you such caring people.
Kisses....I had a situation with my old job right before Thanksgiving!!!! I had given it my all, running myself into the ground!!!! Everyone around me saw it but me....kind of like an A. I had gotten sick several times....not just a cold but seriously sick!!!! The doctor told me that the stress from my jon was too much and that I needed to take it easy!!!! Well after a few weeks gone due to being sick, when I came back all you know what had broken loose!!!! I had ALOT of fixing!!!! I left 2 hours after I was suppose to one night and left some work to be done. Well my boss had a you know what fit and said I was not committed to my job and that I needed to rethink my responsibilies and maybe even my job!!!! That hit a VERY sour note!!!! Well my boss and I had it out!!!! I said somethings I had wanted but maybe shouldnt have!! Well in the end I ended up quitting!!!! I was NOT going back and NO one could make me!!!! I was SO sad cause I had been there for 6 years!!!! I was making good money and I LOVED what I did!!!! I was so sad that something that was SO wonderful ended so badly!!!! (there are other things to but I wont go there....the past is not a good place to dewell) It took me about 2 weeks before I decided to go on interviews and look. I FINALLY found another job....took about 1 week!!!! WELL that is my current job!!!! I have 1/4th the resposibility....I'm a MIGHTY peaon!!!! The stress levels are rediculously low AND the pay is about $1 an hour LESS!!!! BOY OH BOY does it make a difference!!!! SO everything happens for a reason which leads to a greater good!!!! There is a plan for you and it will come!!!! :) I can see the better NOW!!!! I can actually take a lunch break and go to the doctors when I get sick!!!! Or even take a personal day just cause I dont feel like going in if I want to!!!! I went from one extreame to another!!!! And let me tell you....I dont know HOW I ever did that job, but I am so HAPPY now!!!! I can spend time with my family....and with what has gone on the last week, I NEED that time!!!! :) I couldnt do what I have if I had been at my other job!!!! I enjoyed the Holidays for the first time in 6 years!!!! How sad huh!?!? Take your time and be picky!!!! There is that job for you out there!!!! :)
