Old Time Al-Anon Snow bird

I have been attending Al-Anon since 1991.due to my son's drinking and my ex-husband's

drinking. I had  a bad attitude and a loose mouth the criticizum and sarcasm that came

out of my mouth was awfull. I never thought before I spoke I've learned to do that in

Al-Anon. I've also learned to keep my mouth shut and mind my own buisiness and take

care of my self. I have learned to say no to my children and not feel guilty. But I have to

keep coming back to meetings or I can slip back to my old ways. I have a new husband

and 4 step children besides my own 3 children.  There is drinking and drugging all

around me. I need Al-Anon  ..        Yours in Serenity Jeannie

Glad to see you - you're right, it is so easy to slip back into old ways. That's the nice thing about this place - open 24/7

Hi Jeanie,

I've improved a lot with Alanon but still have a lot of work to do.
I'm amazed at the amount of people in my family who drink heavily - it's getting worse and I'm the only one interested in Alanon. I wonder why people want to be anesthetized - cunning and baffling. My sister was even blaming me for knowing so many alcoholics. I reminded her that we have all the same drinking relatives, so we're equal on that score, but she didn't see it. Funny!
