Rough Times

Hi everyone...

Just a note to let you ppls know that I am still thinking about you. And I haven't fallen off the face of the planet. Even though I haven't been around for awhile, you guys have been in my thoughts and prayers.

Hard times have hit and I have been extremely overwhelmed. My Grandpa has lung cancer and is fading FAST. Had to take almost all of our Xmas $$ and go to CA for Turkey day to see him. I was worth it though. However, now I feel guilty cause my other Grandma (who is sufferring from Alzhiemer's) is in Southern CA and I can't afford to get down to see her.

And now I am struggling to get Christmas taken care of for my children. (Which is on my list of worries, however it is towards the bottom of the list.) One of my biggest worries is the food on the table. I make $2 too much to qualify for food stamps, which adds to my worry list.

Anywhooddles, Long story shor(er).... My health is improving (which is good cuase now that the divorce is final, I do not have health insurance on me), however my list of worries is growing each day. HOWEVER.... I am grateful to still be vertical and breathing.

And listening to myself type, it sounds as if I need to get myself back to MORE meetings and start my 'God' box up at night. WOW.... y'all really do help a person out in need..... glad you were here to listen and guide me where I needed to be.

((((((love2all))))))

Well even if you made less you'd probably only get $10 a mo. in foodstamps anyway.  I sell stuff on ebay on the side.  What area are you in?  I get stuff at thrift shops and garage sales.  When I lived in Boulder I made 800 a mo. just doing that in my spare time.  Good undocumented income....

Hello, Meme, I'm glad to hear you're still with us. I know exactly where you're at. The first time I tried to move out on my father, I found out, quite brutally, how beauracratic poverty can be. It's as if "We can help you, but only if you're THIS poor..." I want you to know that you're doing great. It's okay that you weren't able to get to see grams--sometimes, it's better to remember people as they were, not as they are. It's also really good that you were able to see gramps. Please keep us posted. I love you, dear.

Glad to hear from you meme,,,its been awhile. Glad to hear you are ok and your kids. You know when we go through hard times, it can only get better. Think positive and dont be afraid to ask for help when needed. People understand more than you think, and I am sure they will lend a helping hand when needed. We can only do the best we can with what we have..............and this too shall pass!..Hang in there and keep in close with your alanon friends.......thinking of you,,,,,,,,,,,,gardengal

Thank you all for the continued love and support I have found in the Alanon rooms (face to face and online) over the past 16+ years.

It is amazing how easy it is to forget and 'slip.' The good news is.... after so many years.... it is so much easier to get back on track and I know where that track is.

Thanks again.
Much love to all.

Oh boy, what a "God" moment! I had just posted to see if anyone had talked to you. I am glad that despite your troubles, you are doing well.

How is OurSmiley doing?

I miss you both. Take good care of you.

Love Maria

I am so sorry to hear about your difficult times!  Don't you just wish that we didn't ever have to think of money!!!!! Finances are some of the stinkiest things of all!!!! I am glad you were able to go see your grandfather--I am sorry you couldn't see your grandmother (I had a grandmother and an aunt who had alzheimer's--don't feel too bad about not seeing her-you and she both know you love her!!!)

I hope you can find some great deals for your kids for X-mas!  If you don't have a ton of "stuff" under that tree, maybe you could plan several fun activities for that day--baking cookies together, making some construction paper type crafts and the time just doing things with you will be so much fun I bet they won't realize they didn't get so much "stuff"!!

Just some thoughts.

Take care of you.

Dawn
