(((NYCBT))),

Remember progress, not perfection. We all are human and slip every once in a while. The important thing is to pull ourselves backup, wipe the dirt off, and keep on going.

With all the emotional pain that we deal with I don't see how we can not slip every now and then.

Yours in recovery,

Mandy

I too slip.  I have learned to be gentle with myself, to keep telling my self I am a work in progress and then move on.  I have found personally that when I slip it is usually because I have been pushing down or aside a feeling because I don't want to feel it (or I have been telling myslef I don't have time).  I'm getting better at it though.  Hang in there.

many hugs to you. Take care of you and know that slips are part of recovery.
You are doing good. Being aware is important.

nycbt.  Mahalo (thanks) for your share.  I stopped looking for perfection when my sponsor told me that if I hadn't reached it the first time it was already too late.  I had a reverse situation in the past.  I went on prescripts and re-addicted for a while.  Did the same thing you did.  Realized what I had done and then did the right thing for the right reason.

I often share in my home group that I am a "recovering thrower"!!

Prior to recovery, in dealing with my anger & frustration I would throw things at the wall, across the room, on the floor, etc. - boy, I can still "slip" into that old behavior if I don't work this program to deal that emotion of anger.

It is so much better to work thru it, rather than pick the cordless phone up from the other side of the room!! ()

Hang in there - we all have those slips - what we do after the slip is the key - sounds like you are on the right track.

Progress not perfection

One day at a time,

Rita

Thank you for posting. Slips.....my previous sponsor would call them bumps.  I myself had one yesterday than has run off into today.  Kept to praying these two days.  This afternoon, I drove into town and made a meeting, called my sponsor, made a graditude list, HP list, worry list, and another 4th step.  Tonight, I will do another 5th step and make another meeting.  It gets that bad at times.  The last two days, I have been in a place I haven't been in a long, long, long time.

I am human.  It is going to happen to all of us.  I feel so much better.  I feel like the NEW me again and I am loving it.
