Oct 17 is our wedding anniversary. We were first married in 1981 (divorced 1988, remarried 1989 but we still celebrate our wedding anniversary)


Oct 17 2005 I sat in an AlAnon meeting (first meeting back this time)


Oct 17 2006 my husband, 14yr son and I went out for a nice dinner


Maybe AlAnon does work?!

Congratulations--it's amazing how our HP works, isn't it???  It occurred to me this morning that I can share my own then vs. now....


October 18, 2005, I helped my AH move into an apartment because it was too hard to deal with the aftermath of his disease, early sobriety, and real life all at the same time and separation seemed to be the only hope for salvaging our relationship.


October 18, 2006, we are going to dinner tonight as we are now "dating" and looking towards possibly reconciling when his lease is up in February.


 


It is all thanks to AA and Al-Anon--and a HP that has kept me strong throughout this oftentimes HARD process of growth and progress!!

YAY Barbara,

Your post reminds me of the slogan "This too shall pass."

Sigh, I never understood the slogans in the beginning of my recovery and now daily I see the slogans at work.
