Poems I read for Mom's eulogy

I read the following poem for my mom at her funeral:

For her old friends:

She walks in beauty like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies

And all that's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes.

And for me I read:

                                  She dwelt among untrodden ways

                                   Beside the Springs of Dove,

A maid whom there were none to praise

                                  And very few to love.

A violet by a mossy stone

                                  Half hidden from the eye,

Fair as a star when only one

                                 Is shining in the sky.

She lived unknown and few could know

                                  When (mom)  ceased to be,

But she is in her Grave,

And Oh! the difference to me

To my mom, your Irish lass,

Athena

PS. The poems are those of Lord Byron and William Wordsworth--lest anyone think I am that talented.

(((((((Athena)))))))))),

That was lovely. I am sure your Mom was looking down at you, smiling and saying: "That's my girl."

Love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,

Thanks karilynn and rtexas-my mom did everything she could think of on her own to protect her children. She never got into recovery, she was an orphaned child in the Depression and I think she may never have overcome her childhood but she was always ready to protect my brothers and sisters and I from the wrath of my alcoholic father.  I am sorry she couldn't help herself more.  I also don't think she realized the emotional trauma we all endured as children being in the presence of her and my father's ongoing feud about his drinking and everything else.   I am grateful to her because I don't do any arguing in front of my child  and I know it is important to take care of myself as well as my child.  One without the other would be meaningless.

peace and love,

Athena
