A's worst nightmare

What was said about Alanon being an A's worst nightmare is true. My husband and I were both asked to speak at an Alanon meeting I didn't attend regularly. When his turn came, he said "Ladies and Gentlemen", you will never no how you are screwing up someone's enjoyment of drinkng by coming to these meetings. "Never underestimate the power of Alanon." was what he said. He then went on to describe his feelings when I first started going while he was still drinking. He said he noticed I now had friends and I was happy and I was no longer falling for his old ploys and he was jealous of my new friends because he didn't have any except the bottle and it was becoming more and more uncomfortable and unreliable.

Now he had been sober for quite a few years when he said all of this and this had been the first time I had heard him describe his feelings about that first year when I was in Alanon and He was still drinking. It was quite a revelation

bluegrassgal,

That is an awesome post and an awesome statement by your husband. Sometimes I doubt myself for going to Alanon and things seem to get worse between my and my AH sober. And then when I drive 30 miles in a snowstorm to get to a meeting. Doubt no more-there is hope.

In support,

Nancy
