((((((((((Barb)))))))))),

On top of being and alcoholic, hubby is border line OSD and he has anxiety and spinning thoughts.  He is on medication and does his mental health work.  A good pyschiatrist and councelor is the key for him.

A professional, usu a psychiatrist, would discuss behaviors with you that you've had over the past 6 months or so and how it's affected your life. How it's become disabling, specifically.

Then, if they felt you were obsessive compulsive, they would direct you to a councelor, who would help you work on the patterns of OCD that are keeping your life unmanageable, and complement the therapy with low doses of meds.

None of this would replace al anon, however.
