hello

Hello Everyone,

My name is Barbara and I am from Tennessee. I am here because my b\f has a drinking problem. He knows he does and is doing something about it. It took some really bad things to happen to make him see his problem. To make a long story short he had a brush wiht the law at a bar where I was the bartender. I think he will get out of the trouble as his record is clean.

Since then we have started to church, we are both christians but hadn;t been to church ina while. Out of the blue last Sat night his old sponsor from AA called him !!!!! That was  aprayer answered. He brought him over to met me also that night. He is planning to go to his first AA meeting Thursday night. He is doing really good right now, BUT I know the hardest part is still to come. I  am looking for help here to learn all I can. I have to told Mark I will stay by him and not turn back on him as ling as he is trying.

If anyone has any words of windsom I am all ears!!!

Barb

Hi Barbara,

I am in Tennessee as well...what part are you in?  I'm about 40 minutes west of Nashville.  Nice to meet you!

I am married to a sober alcoholic, a little over 2 years now.  I have told him my boundary, that if he chooses to drink again, he will have to leave.  I told him that when he first got out of treatment, in front of his sponsor, who told me to let my boundaries be known.  Well, 2 years and 4 months later, I'm not sure what I will actually do, now that I understand the disease more.  I will have to cross that bridge when I get there.

It's great that your b/f admits to having a problem and is willing to go to AA.  That's the first step.  Hooray for him!

Keep coming back, it works!

Kathi

Thanks everyone!!!!!!! I live in Huntingdon thats is a SMALL town close to Jackson tn. I just spent about 4 hours wiht Mark. He is having a bad night, today was a bad day at work. We have two newspapers in our county. Last week his brush wiht the law was in one then it was in the other one yesterday. He said people at work are starting to ask questions. I told him to keep his chin up and pray a lot!!!! He goes to his AA meeting tonight, Im hoping that helps.

Thnaks for the great welcome

Barb
