The addict and the codependent

Goes hand in hand.  Its a dance that seems to get old after a while and I find myself wishing to get off the dance floor sometimes.  Coming to Alanon is like getting off the dance floor for me.  Getting real with myself and my wants and desires.  It feels weird to let the A dance by himself.  Some days he tries really hard to pull me into his two-step called chaos.  Its the tools of Alanon that is helping me take a different turn.  Like changing the music and dancing to a different beat. Just a little analogy I thought I'd share.  Feel free to add on to it.

TM,

What a great anology.

One night when I was sitting next to my hubby I looked at him, he was stoned, and I said "What a lovely pair we make. Stonerboy and his faithful side-kick Codependent-Girl". We both had a good laugh over that. LOL I got my butt to a meeting the next day.

Stay off the dance floor, it gets to dizzy there.

Yours in recovery,

it's a very dizzying dance! i notice when i step off the dance floor, i meet with initial reactions from my A, from mild disappointment to anger. i look down and my feet are right back on that dance floor! i think it's made of velcro

Thank you so much twimmom, how true is that.....I got sick and tired of the dance and just wanted to sit out for awhile......

The wonderful tools of alanon saved my sanity without a doubt....

Thank you for the post

Yes, I can relate to this, especially the two-step called chaos. At the moment I am on the edge of the dance floor, A is being nice and its easy to forget the chaotic crazy making times. For the first time, largely due to this board and some self-awareness I am not eager to get on the floor.
