YAY!!!! I'm a Granny at last!!!

 Hello lovely people.......

Well,as some of you know,I returned to the UK to await the birth of my first Grandbaby who was expected to make an appearance on the 15th July. It's been a long wait but in the wee small hours of Saturday morning,I heard my daughter in law shuffling around and knew that labour had started. The hospital were going to induce her on Sunday as she was so late....and I guess the little tyke decided to "beat 'em to it"...LOL

So all day Saturday my son and I tried to make things as comfortable as possible until the time came to get to the hospital. Unfortunately the labour didn't go well and she had a very difficult time. After 30 hours my little Grandson made his entrance into the world on Sunday afternoon wieghing in at a healthy 7 lbs and 1 and a half ounces. My son amazed us all because he is the most squeamish soul you could know, but he was so attentive to his lovely wife and was with her every step of the way.The staff told me afterwards that "You must have done a fantastic job with that lad. We wish all Fathers had even a scrap of the knowledge he had about childbirth and how to really be there for a woman." Then proceeded to tell me that my son assisted with everything throughout, cleaned up after them, changed sheets, helped with sterilising equipment, encouraged and nurtured his wife, even took the baby and cleaned him and tended him while the staff were busy with baby's Mother, who was in a bad way.My childrens Father was about as much use as a chocolate teapot during childbirth, and didn't fare any better in the coming years. My son's greatest fear is being anything like his Father, who he refuses to have any contact with. I WAS SO PROUD when the staff told me all of this.

Poor little mite is black and blue from the delivery,my daughter in law didn't fare much better but THANKS TO GOD they are both safe and well. My son and his wife are ecstatic to be the proud parents of this little miracle, and I am over the moon that I have a new baby Grandson.

His name is Ben. Brings back SO many happy memories for me because our family dog,a beautiful, big softy of a Golden Retriever was the best friend in the world to me and my children for almost 18 years until he died 10 years ago. My kids still talk about him and our love for that gorgeous animal has never waned. His name??? Ben!!!  I had no idea my son and his wife had decided on this name, but I shouldn't have been surprised as my son adored that dog all his life. It's so comforting to me to know the big fella is still watching over us,and I'm sure he will be bounding around in doggy heaven knowing the legacy he left.

Thank you all for the love and support you've all so freely given me in the short time I have been priviledged enough to know you all.

I'm one LUCKY LADY

Love to all........Chris52(who is grinning from ear to ear!!!).

    WOOHOO! WOOHOO! WOOHOO!

Welcome to the world Ben!  You have a great, amazing, loving Grandma!

I am soooo happy for you! Now you feel free to spoil your grandson as much as you want, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.  It's a Grandma's priviledge after all.

Here's to Ben and his new family.  May they have a long, happy, wonderful life together.    May they (that includes you my dear Chris) be surrounded by many angels.

Love and many blessings to you and your family.  Can't wait for Ruby to meet Ben.  I have the feeling they are going to be great buddies.

Love strong,

Karilynn & Pipers Kitty :flowers:

Hi Chris,

Congratulations on being a Nanna.  Not sure what the time difference is between Australia and UK but my birthday was August 5th.  I wish you and all your family a lifetime of happiness with little Ben.  You certainly deserve it.  Luv Leo xx

So very glad for you Chris!  Give that precious baby a big kiss on his sweet cheek for me.  And, go ahead and take a bow for the wonderful job you did raising your son to be so loving and kind.  I know that is quite a feat, especially in an alcoholic environment!  You deserve a big hug, too!

Welcome to the world, Ben!  It is a beautiful place!  And you have a very wise and loving Gramma to help you!  How can it get any better than that!

((((Chris, Ben, Mommy, Daddy))))))

Love in Recovery,

Becky1

Awwwwwwwww. Thank you all for your good wishes.

Little Ben is progressing well. Some of the severe swelling is starting to subside and he has had his first bath. Yes Christy...he smells yummy!!

We're hoping to get some sleep tonight!! Will make the most of it as I expect sleep to become a little elusive over the next few weeks. But hey.......it's well worth it.

Bless you all.

Granny Chris.
