Card from A

((friends)))

My husband is in Alaska working for 3 months. He's been gone since the 19th. I really miss him, especially since I got used to having him here everyday for the last few months (recovering after hospital stay).
On Aug 12th, he will be 6 mo. sober..wooohooo!!!

Anyway, he sent me a card today from Alaska, I had to share :)

It has a picture of a polar bear on the front and it is saying: Do I miss you??

Open card: Does a bear sh*t on the ice?

Ha! I loved it!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My son is river rafting until early Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon he is leaving for a week to Destin, FL (lil booger). Soooo, I'll be even more alone the next 10 days or so without my boy..
I'll be digging up those old Alanon tools that I used when my A was drinking. Finding extra things to do to take up some time. It's not too hard to keep the focus on me, I'm the only one here..lol
I guess it's a good time to paint and redecorate the bedrooms/bathrooms. :)
Friday I had dinner with a Alanon buddy and my friend/neighbor and I went for a Sundae this afternoon. I'm throwing in fun stuff too.
When son gets back from FL we are going to Alaska to visit hubby for a week, can't wait. Before A left and got this job offer we were thinking a vacation more in the line of beaches and palm trees.
HP has a sense of humor doesn't he? lol
Take care,
Christy
((((((((((((((((Christy)))))))))))))))))))))),
I love the card! Ahh, time alone can be fun and relaxing.
Remember the difference between being lonely and being alone dear friend. I actually pulled out those old Alanon tools myself last night. Hubby was asked to be a part of a 12 Step Intervention for someone because this person has had some seizures, (eventhough hubby's was accidently induced by the doctors). He's been gone all night. Now we're sitting on the bed getting things together and I had flashbacks when he would just be gone all night and tell me he was "communing with nature". His "nature" was checking into a motel, visiting a strip joint and doing stuff I no longer care to relive.
What I had to remember was that if he drinks, he dies for one. But mostly I kept reminding myself was if was going to go on a binge, he wouldn't pack an overnight bag, and make sure he had his meds with him! I admit I had a bit of a hard time last night. I had been uptight all afternoon, but it's probably just me. So I was going to spend the night just relaxing and being lazy. But I couldn't settle down, so I did laundy. Last night did not come as easily. It was too hot for the cat to snuggle and hubby wasn't there. I had this huge bed all to myself. I use to love that! But eventually I dozed off because Pipers bit my nose this morning! lol I kept telling God he's in your hands. I also asked HP to help this person because so many times he has helped mine.
Now I'm off to work for a few hours, eventhough it is my day off. A little extra money never hurt. I'm still a bit unsettled. The old me wants to check his bank account for any activity, but I am resisting the urge. I'm not going to call his cell. I know if anything happened he would call. When I get home I'll be able to wrap my arms around him. I look foward to that.
Well I feel better just replying to this post. Thank you! You're always there for me, even when you don't intend to be.
Enjoy the week. Don't forget to spoil yourself rotten. Call me if you need to! Tell Hubby I said Congrats on 6 months! That's awsome!
Love and blessings to you and your family!
Live strong,
Karilynn, Hubby & Pipers Kitty
P.S. God's sense of humor for us would be sending us someplace warm, instead of cold!
(((((((((((((((Christy)))))))))))))))))))))),
So nice to see you back again on the boards hon. I missed ya.
Congrats for your hubby's sober!!!! Your evolution here of changes reminds me of the slogan "what a difference a day makes" and then some
Every so often I too have to deal with letting go ~ letting go of my children as they grow, etc. My oldest just turned 21 (gulp) and is legal now. Talk about letting go .... and it brought me back to each and every time my children have reached a new phase in their lives when I've had to let go ... kindergarten, away from home for a week, middle school, graduation etc. and brought back all those memories.
Enjoy your peace and quiet time,
love Maria
