Convention

I went to an Al-Anon convention this weekend - was not as great as I expected, but my fault for having an expectation . . .

Anyway, I did hear two things that I had not heard in recovery that I really liked - wanted to share - hope they help you as much as they helped me . . .

1.  Religion is for people trying to stay out of hell, Spirituality is for those who have already been through hell.

2.  You have to take the Steps, there is no elevator.

Take what you like and leave the rest,

Rita

(((Rita)))),

Sorry you're experience wasn't what you were wanting it to be. I do that to myself to sometimes, get so excited that I feel let down once the event happens. Expectations can do that.

Thanks for sharing the things you heard with us.

How was the speaker? Did you get to share your story with her?

Yours in recovery,

Dolphin123

Yes, I did get to meet her - Sue D. from California - she was awesome - she also gave me permission to use her name when I am a speaker - so that was great, too.

There was some conflict with my fellow home group members - very uncomfortable for me - Felt like my feelings and emotions were put aside and some were able to say whatever made them feel better and for me, I wish I would have been brave enough to say

"Just because I may weigh less than you doesn't mean that my feelings and emotions carry less weight than yours."

But we always think of the good things to say afterwards - so I have vented about the issue on another web site & now this one - so I will practice the slogan of Let Go & Let God and seek my HP's will in dealing with this issue - one of the ladies is or was - not really sure, my Sponsor - so I will just see if my HP heals that relationship or if it is time to move on .

Anyway, thanks for asking - Hope you have a blessed day & if you ever get a chance to hear Sue D & her husband, Keith D from California - please do so - they are awesome.

Progress not Perfection,

Rita
