I learned something new about myself

I guess I feel like writing. I read the recovery Bible this morning. I felt peaceful. Then I freaked, mentally, later in the day. Then I biked for an hour and twenty minutes - prayed and talked to God the whole time. I had to drop my will.

I've been reading the Celebrate Recovery program. That's the codepency class I go to on Thursdays. Lots of stuff (stuffed emotion) is coming up. I'm starting on step 1. Denial, Powerlessness... Sigh. I know that I am powerless, but this is what I didn't know...

I didn't know that my life had become unmanageable. I kept feeling chaotic. I started wondering why I never wanted to do the things that I loved to do like bike, swim, go to the gym, read, paint and call my brother. Since I have been with my Sweetie, I've quit all of it. It was only a matter of time.

At any rate, I'm reading this book called Stepping Out of Denial into God's Grace - it's the first three steps. So there is a series of questions after each lesson that I must answer. I had no idea that it would work. Well, it sure coaxed those stuffed feelings to come to the surface! As a matter of fact, so much so that I became ill with a migraine headache. I haven't had that intense of headache since 1 year ago when I stopped taking b.c.

Denial is really hard to break through. The only thing that I can think of doing to break through my denial is to stay true to myself at all times. Look at the truth of all situations. Ask myself whether my thoughts are true or not. When I am crabby, I need to ask myself what's the truth of my crabbiness. I actually learned that my crabbiness is HABIT. There is nothing that I ever need to be CRABBY about... Lord blessed me.

But too, I must admit when I am hurt or angry. I usually keep that in. Well, anger about stuff to complain about is one thing, but the type of anger that comes after someone has hurt me is another thing. I need to start expressing myself. That will help me from staying in denial.

It's nice to know that I am not alone. God is with me. I love reading scripture to back that up--it grounds me in reality.

Well, I've spent several days in a row with my Sweetie, but I need to be at home. I wish that we were married and had a life all smoothed out for us, but we don't. I miss him at night--I want to cuddle, smell him, and kiss his cheek. Sigh. God has a plan, nevertheless.

Blessings...

Wizkid signing off...

Here are some things that have helped me since in the program.

  • Go face to face meeting & online meeting.

  • post on the board here on the site. I have gotten a lot of good feed back.

·        In this program u learn that u have choices. In Alanon we don’t give advice but only suggestions.

·        Set support system.  people do not judge. You need someone who can go for coffee on a bad day, or pick up a phone and call when in trouble. The support is what is important when you first this program.

  • Have a sponsor. Someone work one on one with you.

You don’t have to do this the minute u come to the program but I suggest that u do it when u can. It help.

Meeting schedule: meetings are in here and run approximately 90 minutes from: Monday-Friday, 9 am and 9 pm EST, Saturday: 10 am and 9 pm EST, Sunday: 10 am and 7 pm EST. Topics are selected by participants at meeting time. UK +5 hours, central -1 hour, mountain -2 hours, pacific -3 hours. Open chat all other times.

((((((((((WizKid)))))))))), Great post

Made me think about things I tend to do myself these days. Hold too much in. I tend to let it just chip away at me until there is nothing let but one big pile of mushy goo with one heck of a mean temper. I just have to trust that my Hp will show me the way and leave it in his hands and not let my will keep getting in the way. Someone wished me best wishes on my journey of discovery, with the more I learn the more I really enjoy looking at it like that. Discovering a whole new me. Even on the hardest of days I hope you find your journey just as wonderful.
