Hi Ollie:

My prayers go out to you for your suffering.  I know the feeling of having nightmares, and just being restless and hopeless.

I never have trouble sleeping, but something that may help is meditation.  I find that when I don't practice my meditation daily, I feel just irritable and restless.  After I do - sit quietly for about 20 minutes or even more, I feel so warm and calm.  If you don't know how to practice mediation, check out some books on it.  There are all different ways to practice.  I learned through a Buddhist temple - a method that is practiced in Shambhala Buddhism.  They give free meditation instructions at their temples.  It is a really good thing to do for yourself.

Just a thought, I am sorry for what you are going through.  May you have peace in your life (and dreams!) soon...

Love, HeidiXXX

You said you are weepy. That makes me think you are dwelling on the things that happend and the fact he is gone.  I

d not suggest drugs for sleeping...but perhaps soemthig over the counter liek tylenol PM or excedrin PM might work?  You are right..you DO need sleep. REST is also very important. I try to clear my mind when it is oing in 100 directions. Then I listen to soothing music as I try to fal asleep.

I'm sorry you are having nightmares. It might be a form of PTSD. (post traumatic stress disorder) My husband has that from memories of Viet Nam.  He only got over that by years of going to a psychaiatrist and taking lots of medications.  I'd try milder things first...reading, music, OTC pm meds, etc.  SOmetiems turning on a boring channel on the TV willmake me sleepy. Perhaps you might try resting on the couch. Maybe if your body does nto kow you are "going to bed" it will let you take a long nap.

Welcome to this group.  One of our members, Debilyn, often says that she advises people to take lots of rest early in recovery.  So I think just do that rest, don't focus on anything provocative when you are resting, read easy reading something that will quiet you down like meditations or something like that.  Take time to yourself, eat well, breathe.  Meditation may be the key for you. Prayer helps some of us too.

I am so glad that you are taking care of you.

Maresie.
