so far so good...

well, some of you may have read my post about giving my dad one more chance to be sober around me and my kids. he can do whatever he wants on his own time, but on my time-he must be sober or we will cut off all ties. i am happy to share with you that he has been good so far. i am still worried that he is going to go back on his promise, but hopefully not. how hard can it be to be sober for 2 hrs once a week?  i say that b/c i am not an A, so i can't relate.

i think if he goes back on his word/promise...it will break my heart. i know i'm not suppose to take it personally, but this time i will. i have compromised and given so much to him. the least he can do is this for me.

keep luck on my side.

That is really good that your children can now see their grandfather.

It seems you have set some good boundaries with your dad. Maybe it would be better for you to try and let go of any expectations from an A. It is better to realize that it is very possible that he could drink when he is not suppose to. If you accept this reality then maybe your heart would not get broken if he does not keep his promise.

In the meantime maybe you could have a plan B
