The writer says that we can become aware when our thoughts become distorted through recovery. We can learn to stop our negative thinking. We do this by exchanging the negative for something positive. Our attitude seems to be key to accomplishing this change. The reminder says to pay close attention to what we tell ourselves.
I like this reading a lot because I had distorted and negative thinking for many years. This program has allowed me to make good progress by realizing not everything is about me, I make myself stop any verbal self-abuse that comes into my head, and often I remind myself to just let go and let God, and live and let live. The Serenity Prayer often comes in handy, not to mention Step 1. All these wonderful tools are available to me so I can pay better attention to what I'm saying to myself.
