hello im jonnie

I am an alcoholic in recovery for 6 years almost. I am 36 now and started the cycle of addiction passed down from my father when I was 16.

My father still drinks heavily, a gallon of whiskey EVERY day. I cannot have a relationship with him. He is raising my sister, 17, who is pregnant with a 28 year olds man that need to be in jail . She was on crack, meth, her mother had died

i think due to a heavily night of drinking . i met a man who i love with all my heart ,he told me that it was him or the beer and the bars ,  i now think the lord for him . we have a child together (taylor is now 3) he has taken my other boys in as his .  there has not been one day in my life that i could pick up the phone and call my father , and he was not drunk . at this point i cant stand him .  because he will not help him self at all ,  his mother and father raised me because the way my father and mother was , i do not get along with my mother at all i guess its because she was never there , all she was worried about ws getting the next man  in her bed !!  now they are both going to take me to court to see if they can make me let them see their grandsons ( well lets go ) my boys will not see the sh*t that i have seen in my life nobody knows the hurt that drinking puts in to people lifes. i love my mother and father but i dont need to like them!  now i have got my sh*t together . it took a long time but i think im there

Hi Jonnie,

So glad you decided to join our recovery site, I have only been on the site for a few months, but have almost 3 years on Al-Anon. Congrats on your sobriety.  I have several friends in my home group that are "double winners" in both programs.

Hope you find the E, S & H to help you with your struggles, remember nothing, but nothing surprises your Higher Power,

One Day at Time,

great to have co-workers in recovery (jenneeeeffffuuuur is great!!)

Rita
