illusions of reality

Due to my illusions concerning fairytales and reality, I was impressed with the following and wanted to share it here.

I was listening to an Al-Anon member that gave a new meaning to the phrase happily ever after. She said that,
"Happily ever after is working your recovery."

For me, the fairytale had nothing to do with working or recovery. What a relief to know that I can adjust my way of thinking when needed. I don’t have to keep beating my head against a wall just because I thought “it should work.”

Another member referred to her recovery as 1,2,3 Therapy. She said that:
1) I’m powerless
2) I’m driving myself crazy
3) I need help

Don’t you just love recovery? We don’t have to drive ourselves crazy if we don’t want to.

Thanks...
