5/16/23 ODAT Making Tough Decisions

Today's page reminds that fellow members and sponsors are great resources between meetings when I need a word of encouragement or a fresh perspective.

Others are not there, however, to make decisions for me. My decisions are for me to make along with my higher power.

Reminder - If contemplating an irrevocable decision, remember that there will not be recourse once that is acted upon. Serious connection time with my higher power will be helpful when contemplating such a decision, as will steering away from motivations of resent, hatred and anger. Reviewing and using Alanon tools during this time will help me learn to make better decisions.

"Whatever faces me at this time, I know that God has given me the power to set my world in order." unattributed
------------------
Alanon has helped me greatly in making decisions, not the least in simply reminding me that unless immediate action is necessary, often the best action for me to take is none. During this pause I can use the time to pray for guidance, review ALanon principles and fundamentals that are or could be in play.

When the time comes for the decision to be made, I can only do my best at the time, there is no perfect decision or guaranteed outcome. The most important thing I can remember is to look to my higher power for guidance, and to trust that no matter what decision is made, Alanon and my higher power will always be there to help me get through it.

Grateful for the wisdom and guidance

Thanks Paul for your service and share. I feel fortunate that a number of years ago, a member from my F2F meeting and I began texting each morning. It just sort of happened spontaneously and has continue now for years. Between MIP and my morning text, I start each day with alanon. I never feel alone and alanon wisdom is just a text away (or email). At times I do have a serious decision to make, and I count on my program (including HP) to guide me along. Grateful.

Thank you Paul for your service, todays reading and to you and Lyne for both your ESH.

I echo both of you as far as daily support by coming here to the MIP Family (meetings are not daily) and relying on my HP

for guidance with difficult decisions and situations. If it were not for Al-Anon and membership as well as my HP I would

surely still be in a sea of anxiety and confusion. Grateful member as well!!!
