esh in crisis

I went to a counselor for the first time iin 10+ years. The counselor handles depression issues which I am very depressed at the moment. He is a marriage counselor and also my husband's addiction counselor. So it was helpful because he has some background info and knows what has been going on lately. He said to me, "you know that you are being abused, right?" I said, "No. I didn't." It's emotional abuse. When husband and I get in fights he says the most horrible things to me. But he thinks it doesn't count because they were said in anger and doesn't mean it. He recommended Zoloft for me and he will be recommending a treatment center for my husband. As well as continued counseling for me. I am feeling so guilty for my daughter right now.

hi (((tipper))) im sorry you are feeling depressed right now. ive had many struggles with it myself. anti-depressents and counselling can definatley help. im too emotionally, verbally abused by my common law husband. it really doesnt matter when the person says it, it still hurts. others have told me to keep in mind that when they say these things its usually a reflection on how they feel about themselves. im unclear about what you mean as you feel guilty about your daughter you didnt mention in the post. keep coming here and my prayers are with you.

hi tippergirl (((((hugs)))))  kudos to you for going to the couselor!  great job taking care of yourself - you certainly deserve it!  stay with it, i know how hard it is to keep appointments when you are busy, to make the meetings and remember to take the medicine everyday - but if you stick with it all, you will slowly start to feel better!  one day at a time!  - quest
