Well, it has been ages since I signed in. I dont know why..I certainly need the ESH provided here. In the last 24 hours Ive experienced a heaping helping of bread in a hardware store.
I had a very nasty fall on Saturday morning. I went to the ED on Sunday and was in the hospital for 2 days. Im using a walker now and will be following up with the orthopedic surgeon next week. At the hospital they asked if I lived with someone and I said yes, but he is fairly disabled himself and probably wont be able to help me much. I didnt add that he is an A and not doing very well lately. I also didnt add that he doesnt have a problem walking outside to smoke or get more to drink.
Long story/short..I did still expect ( those damn expectations) he would offer to make me something to eat.even a sandwich when we got home. Nope, although I repeatedly said how hungry I was. After he offered to make me an omelette, he promptly fell asleep in the chair. I ate dry cereal. This morning he did make coffee and poured me some. Although I normally make breakfast he never asked If I would like even a piece of toast. Tonight I said I was fine with soup for dinner. (How difficult is it to open up a can?) He said ok and again fell asleep. He simply is unable to care for me in the simplest way. Im so hurt and disappointed but realize Im looking for bread in a hardware store. Lesson learned.tomorrow I will order delivered takeout without expectation from him.
{{{El}}} Well at least you are not going back to the hardware store! You have figured out how to feed yourself, which is sad that your partner can't help in this crisis, but GREAT you have figured out how to take care of you. That's what program is all about.
I hope you heal quickly and will keep coming back. Hugs, Lyne
((El)). I also wish you a quick recovery. Earlier I anguished over finding the right words to express my sympathy and support. Lyne has shown me how encouraging the solution is more effective and powerful. Enjoy your takeout dinner and keep coming back.
Thank you for your encouragement and responses! It hurts to realize a loved one who once would have moved the moon and stars to be there for you, no longer has the capability. The disease progresses and progresses. Ive been depending on myself for quite awhile, but thought hed be there for me in a crisis. Reality can be harsh! Hugs, El
I'm glad you have a plan for food, and you are focused on what you can do to care for yourself.
I remember really struggling to stand up and prepare food after I hurt my leg in a bad fall - It is a very difficult situation and I hope you are managing a little better as the days go on. Wishing you restand healing
