Courage to Change Nov. 16

Hello MIP!

In today's reading, the author shares about the slogan "let go and let God." The author found this very hard to do, and they were looking for a concrete way to do this. When listening at a meeting, they heard how another Al-Anon member turned loved ones over to their Higher Power. And, while that Al-Anon member's approach didn't work for our author, the program focus on taking what you like and leaving the rest allowed the author to take the general idea and personalize their own approach. With this new, personalized approach, the author was finally able to turn the care of their loved ones over to their Higher Power.

Today's Reminder: When I'm anxious about other people, I need my Higher Power's help. Fighting fear often strengthens its hold over me, but turning my oved ones over to God can free us all.

Today's Quote: "'Let Go and Let God'...teaches us to release problems that trouble and confuse us because we are notable to solve them by ourselves." This is Al-Anon

-----------------------

I've been struggling with letting go and detachment with one of my foster kids. Today's reading is a good reminder for me that, even though this is a child, their Higher Power has a plan for them, and although my role currently is the parent, I cannot keep the child safe from themselves and their own decisions. It is an interesting balance, trying to parent and protect, while also recognizing my helplessness. Today's reading is a good reminder to me that children, too, are in the care of a higher power, and while detachment looks differently for children and adults, it is still a tool I have that I can use to keep myself sane.

I hope you make today a good day!

Thank you so much Skorpi for your service, today's reading and lovely ESH.

I too need and appreciate these daily reminders and yes I agree with you that when I learned to "Let Go and Let God" my

life became much more manageable. Raising children is one of the toughest jobs on earth for sure and it is sure difficult

to let go when they are having a tough time. Trusting HP is a comfort for us parents and we are never far away to help

if needed. {{HUGS}}

Thank you Skorpi for sharing about your foster child. It's stories like this that restore my faith in humanity. This post reminds me that everyone has their own Higher Power. It's important for me to allow my loved ones to live their lives and trust that they will be taken care of. Easier said than done. But, by working the Al-Anon steps, letting go becomes easier. Thanks for your service and all above shares.
