8/16/22 Remember to Take Care of You

Today's page reminds us that taking a timeout during stressful times may seem impossible but is exactly what we need to do. Making time for food, rest, Alanon refueling and other personal care is essential if we want to give ourselves the best chance of maintaining serenity.

Reminder: I am the only person who can take care of my mind, body and spirit as a priority.

"Putting 'First Things First' in troubled times often means finding whatever way I can to set aside my burdens, even if just for a moment, to make time for myself." - In All Our Affairs
-----------------------
There is a reason airline instructions ask me to put the oxygen mask on myself before helping others. The same lesson applies in my personal life: I can't be at my best if I have not performed the recommended physical and spiritual maintenance.

Another analogy that makes sense to me is auto fluid replacement: Yes, it takes time to pull over and add coolant or oil if the light comes on. The cost of driving on, powering through it, however, is much higher.

Simple reminder, but undeniably effective...grateful for the reminders

So appropriate today Paul!! Thank you for your service and today's reading and ESH.

I am having to pull all the stops out today, got three appointments to make starting in 15 minutes.

Deep breath and everyone take care of themselves as well!! {{HUGS}}

Thanks Paul for your service and for all above ESH. It used to be hard to feed myself, make doctor's appts., rest when I needed to, etc. I was an all around mess and caring for myself was the last thing on my mind. I did make better choices over the years but with alanon I have realized how important I am, and putting first things first sometimes is me coming first. And that gives me a better life and to those around me. :)
