Today's reading speaks of letting go and letting your HP. It talks about the faulty belief that if someone won't take care of themselves, we have to take care of them to ensure their survival, and how letting go of that belief allows people the dignity to experience their own life and learn their own lessons.

I must admit that although I learned this lesson with my ex-A, I haven't learned it well with my offspring yet. I'm frequently guilty of doing everything for her to ensure she doesn't experience the same crappy consequences that I did, and it's definitely not a good way to approach it. I must remember how hard it is for me when I become frustrated with my parents for continually rescuing my drunk/high brother and refusing to set boundaries. I know what the right thing to do is (let people learn their own lessons!) but it's so hard to do when it's so close to home! Like everything, it's a work in progress.

Thanks YKM for your service and share. It's honestly taken me a number of years in alanon to let go and let God, especially with my A. I still can't do it 100% of the time, but I am certainly much improved. When I see my A being self-destructive, I rely on my tools: Live and let live, Pause, think, pray, Bless them change me, etc. It works most of the time but I still have to stay close to alanon and practice, practice, practice. Progress not perfection. :)

Thank you from me as well YKM for your service, today's reading and to you and Lyne for both your ESH.

I so appreciate you both and enjoy reading and sharing with you and everyone on MIP.

I am not at that 100% either, letting go is a continual process of re-enforcing my faith in my HP.
