c2c 10th March Fear

Today's C2C speaks of fear, and of how where once fear might have prevented us from participating fully in our own lives, al-anon gives us tools to accept fear and work with it. Instead of being paralysed and imagining terrible outcomes we can take inventory to ensure we are putting our best selves forward, trust our HP, and move forward. The reading encourages courageously going forward instead of eternally "playing it safe" because we are so afraid of what might happen. Staying mired in fear prevents us from living our lives.

I like that this reading highlights taking inventory as an important tool in acting with courage; it's much easier to walk bravely when you feel you are doing so with integrity. I think in the past, a lot of my fear and inaction has been due to self-doubt or believing there was something wrong with whatever it was that I wanted to achieve. Regular inventory taking helps me know that when I rock out my favourite al-anon tool (do the next right thing), it's likely the right choice. More than that, when I am met with naysayers (and there are quite a few around in my circle of people, haha) I can still move forward with confidence because I trust myself to make decisions now.

How do others apply al-anon tools to manage fear and uncertainty?

Thank you Youknowme for your continued service. The best tool has been living the steps. Turning my problems over to a HP has freed me from the incessant need to control outcomes and given me courage to do what I can and trust that what I can't will be covered. Accepting that the only constant in life is change enables me to live with uncertainty. Practicing the Al-Anon program gives me courage to act in spite of the fear and in many cases what I fear doesn't materialize or the outcome is better than I imagined. Have a great day.

Good afternoon.

Honestly, the shares I read are what helps me with fear right now. When I can read what helps others it in return gives me the confidence to move forward.

And this reading is perfect timing for me today. There's something I want to do, something that is really good and beneficial but I'm doubting myself and am afraid to take that chance. After talking to someone and being encouraged by them, coming here and reading,it gives me the courage to maybe actually proceed with it.

Thank you for that. Have a good day!

Thank you YKM for your service and to you, Daffodils and SF for sharing all your ESH.

I agree with everyone, that when fear impedes or causes me to do or say the wrong thing,

pausing, reflecting and asking for HP's help does the trick for me. I am still working on

the length of time it may take me, sometimes, to take the right steps, pausing and

reflecting, wish it was more automatic, but progress not perfection, as Al-Anon would

say, helps me to move forward in the right direction.

Thanks YKM for your service and for all above ESH. Fear controlled me for many years, being afraid of everything from trying new things to be accused of being wrong or stupid. Often I just wished I could melt into the floor and disappear. NO MORE! Program has given me many tools of living that have enhanced my life in so many ways, ways I never even thought would happen. The Steps and Slogans, which I thought were so silly years ago, are some of my strongest benefits these days. Grateful member always!
