I buried a memory from when I was 12 years old. I saw my brother hiding liquor bottles in his room. He was also smoking marijuana. I was asleep at night when he came into my room and stuck his hand down my nightgown. My life has been a rollercoaster ever since. It ruined my marriage and caused me a lot of harm. Not sure how to find my way back to sanity.

Have you researched local Al-Anon groups in your area?

It would be so beneficial for you to have support close by and to get you started in

the Al-Anon program working the steps and have a sponsor to talk with.

I am very sorry that you had to experience the abuse you were subjected to as

a young girl and believe that you really need to join a local group and perhaps

seek professional counseling.

Please keep coming back to talk with us and to let us know how you make out

with finding local meetings and counseling.

annt, welcome. I agree with Debbie, to find alanon support in as many ways as you can. I have used sponsors to help me along my journey, and the message board is rather helpful to me. I can write whenever I have time and most often, people will respond. One of the skills I have been taught in this program, is to take care of myself. It wasnt easy to learn this, but I no longer have to suffer, and especially, I have resources now to help. Be gently with yourself.
