We live in the rural country. We have been rescuing animals for the past 12 years. We have 30 dogs & 9 cats, plus 2 ducks & 2 goats. We have 14 dogs & 7 cats for adoption. No one has been adopted since Sept. We are not a business just 2 folks trying to help the overpopulation. 

So today a neighbor comes to our home today. They have 2 dogs missing. We talk to the wife some. We tell her we will get out and help look for them. They have only had them a week. ( longer story) A few hours later , we finally get up & start walking to look for her dogs. My A saw them after we got around the corner. We followed their footprints on the dirt road. They ran back onto some land that no one resides on. We followed thru the woods. We did not find them again. The wife sees us heading up to tell her. She parks in our driveway. She runs onto that property & the 3 of us look for about one hour. We covered like 10 to 20 acres. Not one sign of them I was in shorts and got the briars. lol We walked up to a few houses /  neighbors and tell them to look out for them. I told her I would calll and leave a few more messages & phone calls when I got home. These dogs were missing 2 and half hours. One neighbor had seen them earlier near where we did.

So we are in our house. We have a few of our dogs outside. they will bark if they see a strange dog. A little while ago, We see a truck drive by really slow. My A goes outside & talks to them. It is the husband this time. He was looking & looking at our dogs. lol I said " we do not need anymore dogs here" I had the feeling he thought we had his two dogs here. He drove off. We go and do some stuff in the yard. His wife drives by again. I handed her a list of the people I called & put on alert. She drove off too. We go back to stuff in the yard again. Here comes the husband into our yard this time. I let My A go talk to him. She said I should not have said what i did say earlier. I went into the house , changed into appropriate clothes to go look again. I come outside and say well since you are here we all 4 can go look again.  They say oh his wife just drove by & said she had the two dogs. So the husband left.

My A said it was too funny. He had just said " do you have my dogs, if you do would you give them back please?" Then the wife drove by before I came outside. He apologized. He said a neighbor said " we are dog nappers" lmao  It is too funny, I think. Most of our animals are throwaways , dumpsters or owner surrendered. We make a person sign a release form. My A told him "he was more than welcome to walk all thru all our dogs inside & outside to see if we had his dogs."  It is obviously someone who does not know us. We have lived here since 1998. I do not know who said that but I do not really care. I feel our HP made this connection with us and some neighbors today.  I just had to share that.
