When Lois threw the shoe

One part of Lois Wilson's story is that one night Bill was hurrying her up to go to a meeting. Lois picked up a shoe and threw it as hard as she could at him.

Then she said a few choice words about Alcoholcs Anonymours.

I have spent most of my life throwing shoes.  Any time there was an issue I got all riled up.  I most certainly had a number of tantrums. Needless to say that kind of behavior did not endear me to people.

Lois Wilson was lucid and super sharp till the day she died.  Sge almost made it to one hundred years old.  Recovery no doubt gave her a long life.

I am working towards being healthier.

Today will be day two stuck in my apartment because of some work that has to be done. Keep in mind this apartment was totally remodeled. Keep in mind that I get very few days off as a essential worker. Keep in mind that I do not feel that great Inhave a severely bruised foot with a big toe that is is suoercswolen up. Keep in mind I have a to do list the stretches long. I have medication to pick up, errands piling up.

Day 2 we hope they will be done

Day 2 with my commitment that there will be no throwing the shoe.  Day 2 of my putting myself first

Maresie, I love Lois's story! I have read somewhere that Al-Anon is a program "for people who dont drink but who throw things." I definitely qualify, because I went through some times in life when I wanted to throw things.

Lois's story also helps me because she was a strong, brave, resourceful, intelligent woman -- and even with all those strengths she could not stop her husband from drinking. That gives me empathy for myself.

I think this is a program that teaches me how to put myself first in a healthy way.

Best wishes on getting through this difficult time.

I too love that story about Lois and found that when I wanted to throw something in frustration,

FINE = Freaked out, Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional, comes to mind!  smile

Lois's story is such an inspiration!!

Thanks Maresie for the reminder!!

Oh Maresie! I think she said:- "Damn you old meetings!"

Maybe we should just say "darn" with our teeth clenched! biggrin ...
