C2C, 11/30

The author of the reading for Monday, 11/30, discusses how we can learn something from everyone who enters our life.  People can be mirrors, showing us our better or worse qualities.  Some can help us resolve conflicts from the past.  They can be catalysts, activating parts of ourselves.  And others can also learn something from us.

Reminder:  One reason I come to alanon is to learn to develop healthy, loving relationships with myself and others.  I recognize that I need other people.  I will welcome those my Higher Power brings to me today.

This reading is one of those this is perfect for me today moments.  11/30 is my older brothers birthday.  He tormented me from childhood into adulthood.  In my younger days I shook when he was around.  I avoided being alone with him for many years.

Fast forward to today after  7+ years in alanon.  I can say this brother taught me exactly how I dont want to act.  I decided to spend time with him during this last year prior to Covid to help me healand it did, as I met him on my terms and he agreed.  Ive learned that I can forgive and have compassion for someone I wouldnt have thought this could ever happen with.  And for all of this, Im a better person.  Grateful member always.

things have evolved since then, but this is still a component of my belief system.

perhaps including people outside of Alanon, as well. ?

Lovely share, Lyne aww

Lyne, thank you for your service and share.

This reading always reminds me of the poem Desiderata. Each person has a story to tell, experience to share, and perhaps respect that's deserved. Our HPs put them in our paths for a reason or a season.
My goal is to remember these truths. Thank you for the reminder!

My "staycation"/covidcation is over. Back to the grind... except it isn't a grind... I am excited to get back to work!
Have a wonderful Monday, MIP Peeps!

Thanks Lyne for your service and the daily. Thank you all for your ESH and shares. Al-Anon has suggested I just remain open and willing. We get to 'get there' on our terms. What I try to do is embrace each day and let it unfold with the hopes of learning more about me, the world, etc. I am better some days than others, yet I remain willing to roll each day as best I can!

With the extreme divide that exists in our country currently, there is a part of me that's finding some peace with the pandemic. I try really, really hard to seek to understand and remain open-minded. I do have my limits and social distancing has probably saved me from some political debates that are pointless.

So, this program, for me, works well beyond this disease and the diseased. When I am willing/able to use my toolbox, I am pleasantly surprised at the grace I can manage to find unexpectedly, and quite often. Happy Monday all - it's been a cold day here! I am to volunteer tomorrow after giving blood and again on Wednesday! Believe it or not, people do actually golf when it's 30 degrees -- not me!! Love and light to all...hope your day was awesome!
