...our local assembly...

aww A good friend/member has become the District Rep. He said I might become one after him? But I am not a GR. I looked him in the eye and pointed at the younger upcoming members- and told him straight to look for his successor there.

Our southern-most city if a small provincial town by world standards. But Alanon is growing there...

15 to 17 people at a meeting...

I suspect that local doctors in that town refer people. And there is a treatment centre there too- which may explain growth.

OMG one time I 12 stepped the drug and alcohol counsellor for our county. She said that she would not refer people to groups that were not run by professionals. And she also objected to the higher power use inner groups. Doh!

I think I have put my finger on why Alanon folds and dies in some communities.

Just read the first sentence in this share- and I think that points to the cause.

I get a lot out of this group. MIP Alanon. Great examples of how Alanon can be healing and dynamic. aww ...

Thanks.

David, there are closed minded people in abundance all over the place. Being rigid in my early years was merely an attempt to survive. Fear is like a prison. I truly believe alanon has set me free.
