Courage to Change 9/3

Today's reading is all about seizing the day, the moment, etc.  Many of us put our dreams and promises on hold waiting for that special day - that one day when ....  Some of us were waiting for the disease to be cured, others were waiting on something else - no matter.  Al-Anon has helped us to see that today can be the Someday I've always wanted.

While there isn't enough time in this day to do everything we've hoped for, we can certain start making our dreams come true. As suggested in our program, when we ask our HP for guidance and take small steps in the direction of choice, we will be able to accomplish more than thought possible.

Reminder: Today I will not wait for a blue moon, a rainy day, the 366th day of the year, or Someday to accomplish good things in my life.

Quote: "Each indecision brings its own delays and days are lost lamenting over lost days . . . What you can do or think you can do, begin it. For boldness has Magic, Power, and Genius in it. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My days, hours, weeks and life were all in a perpetual state of hold/waiting. Some related to how the disease unfolded and some related to my own fear of failure, fear of the unknown and even fear of success. I was willing to accept the 'status quo' if it kept the boat still - even when it was less than pleasant.
Today, I just try to take some action towards all my various goals/dreams. I know that within one day, today, I can/should practice my program by doing something recovery related. I know that I feel/deal better when I build in some fun. I know that I feel/deal better when I eat healthy, exercise, and do a few RAOK - Random Acts of Kindness. I know I worry less and project less when I spend time in prayer/meditation. Lastly, there's no doubt I find peace and calm in a tidy home and an organized office. My dreams are much simpler than before and gratitude is an awesome promise, I choose to practice and focus on it, one day at a time.
Happy Thursday MIP family. My laptop keyboard is still 'wonky' so I'm shopping for another and working to back up my data.....I have way, way too much! Find and keep your joy - we are all worth it.
 smile Thanks IAm...
     I used to parrot "One Day At A Time". Good slogan.
     But over time i found myself living in the present!
    It did take a while- but it did happen! aww ...
Thanks IAH for your service and great share. I can relate to putting my life on hold, not only waiting for things to change that were out of my control, but I also didn't know how to get myself out of the situation I was in. Another words, I had no life skills to move forward and get out of my emotional hole. Program has certainly changed my ability to take the day I have and use my time productively. I also try to have some activity related to program daily. Reading and writing on this board is a great way to be in touch with program whenever I wish.
Thank you for your service, Iamhere. I really don't know how I missed this on Thursday!! But no matter!! This share is just as tasty on Saturday!!
I am nodding my head in agreement with all the above shares (thank you for your ESH), as I had big dreams and goals, yet much got put on hold b/c it wasn't the right time, we didn't have the money, I couldn't take that vacation and leave kid with spouse... you name it, there was some excuse for it! I try not to look backwards now, b/c I can feel some bitterness over the subject matter. And honestly, the past cannot be changed, no matter how healthy your future, so why ruminate over it? Yes, it may be beneficial to examine it briefly so that one does not repeat, but that's all.
TT - What a beautiful Avatar!! Is that a photo you took yourself? Gorgeous petunias!! Your share brought a smile and a outward "You Go Gurl!" from me! At 55, I returned to school to improve my earning potential now that I was to be on my own. I was amazed at how focused I was! I too, was excelling in a field that is heavy in mathematics... the bane of my existence in high school and college. LOL! I surprised myself completely. I saw myself in your share. Just wanted to congratulate you on the success of your online course!! I love this btw: "...live more abundantly/"
As usual, I am feeding my soul when I check in here... grateful.
