...my week...

Had a full week this week... half down on the coast, an half here at home. Stayed at my cousin's in a shipping container- with  bed and accoutrements.

My cousin doesn't have great boundaries. Her daughter and Sil... are staying over lock-down and beyond in the loft. It was lovely to meet da. for the first time.

I still need to "face my demons" from time to time. My communication skills have improved a lot- but today I don't drink beer, tea or coffee- the great social entrees...

I have a condition, stemming from my years of childhood neglect, which means i have to manage the fluids going into my body, and what is wrapped around these fluids.

I don't feel really so old as I really am... I spent time with a friend of 48 years. 48 years! Hey.

She was 11 when I first met her, and her sister was 12. They were really in places they should not be- at that age.

W. was in the south to care for her mum under look-down. There was a certain amount of cabin fever, and a certain amount of old stuff surfacing.

We spent 9 or 10 hours together; and a certain amount of that was with mum.

I did not try and talk about issues and stuff- in this context. I just showed the flag.

In recent times W. trained as a therapist. This was a great achievement- since she had to go through literacy training before she could start.

I met her in a bookshop one of the three days and was really impressed with her reading. It was a pleasant shock to me- because it was the same sort of material I have always read!

I sense sometimes that people get around the world like ships passing in the night. Friends even.

On  the day she was leaving for her home in the north I took fish around and had lunch with her and mum.

W. has been NA for years- and I realised that we informally covered the steps between us. It made me realise that they had become second nature...

...there was loads of laughter, and hoots of laughter sometimes. But we did not avoid the gritty hard stuff.

On her last trip down our way there were also a lot of weeping, which we shared together...

I think  the world goes too fast around us sometimes... recent events have taught us how we do need to stick together. And I am sure a lot of people will move on, and forget, afterwards... hmm ...

...I have been a bit quiet just lately- and have been overawed by the support that came through- just over the last day. smile ...

Thanks so much, y'all... aww ...

I could imagine hearing your post in pigeon David cause it sounds so local to me and for some reason when I turned on my puter before coming here UTube hooked up playing kanaka music, old, cultural kanaka music and I sang along and drummed along and smiled, smiled, smiled.         Sorry to the non native brothers and sisters but being where I came from and how I was born is a very large part of realizing the disease in my life.  When David speaks he has that inflection I remember so I go back but with him not so negatively as I do with others.  I am not home in Hawaii now.  I am in Clovis California so events such as these are makana  (gifts) from my Higher Power as you all are.

I will put the music on again later in the evening just before I sleep and smile, smile, smile.   ((((hugs)))) wink

((David))) Welcome back. Sounds like your trip was bittersweet. Seeing people we knew so long ago can really kick up old memories of people, place and things. Life is filled with so many twists and turns. I just don't know why my higher power sends me where they do but whatever the assignment, I hope to fulfill it. Maybe there's a message to carry or one to receive. I think with these new awarenesses, we continue to grow. Then we dare to trust others and share with them and them us. The laughing, weeping.. we're not so different and we're not alone. We can let go. Glad you keep coming back. Thanks for sharing your week. TT

Thank you David, for the thread

And thank you, Jerry for the lead. I went right to YouTube and typed in Kanaka Music and the first song up was a hymn sung by Mark Yamanaka and right now I don't think I need to hunt any farther. Absolutely beautiful and soul-soothing.

David,
I am happy to read your words again. It sounds like you had a good week, despite some of the sadness I hear in the tone of the post... not sadness really, just... I don't know. I think it was a week your HP meant for you to have... know what I mean?

Jerry - thank you for your reply... now I have a weekend assignment... discover Kanaka music! Thanks for the link, Temple!

Thanks David.

One day at a time...the days add up into weeks, months, years.

Sometimes, it's one minute at a time.

It works if you work it, so work it, you're worth it.
