SELF CARE INVENTORY_SUNDAY

Another brilliant day and I did NOT work....I did a food run for the church, puttered about the house, and went for a stroll on my bike.....

Told roommate that she must step up and share in the housekeeping/cleaning in the common areas...She said "ok" and did some cleaning in the kitchen...I can say what I mean (setting boundaries or stating my needs that I make sure are fair)  and mean what I say without saying it mean

visited with my elderly friend up the street and of course we shared some laughs....Kitty LOVES running with me on his leash....

I did stuff today that I wanted to with exception that roommates drapes fell down and I put them back up and noticed that the left little hook thingy was loose and I told her if they fall down again, I am gonna take the easy way out and put some hooks that look like question marks and use a rod that is just straight across.....I am learning lots about plans  B and C and even D....but to fight and force something , I am less and less inclined to do that.....yaaaaaaay program

So what did you all do for self care today????

Hi. Sunday was a heavy day. Our family lost an Uncle suddenly at the age of 59. He died in his sleep of a heart attack. He just retired a week ago & was expecting his first grandchild. He was bigger than life. Crazy funny & extremely loyal. Very involved with his children & their sports. Happily married. It was devastating. They were at a cabin for the safer at home shelter with 3 of their 5 children. No funeral due to the pandemic. We have had a rough year of unexpected deaths the past 12 months-2 being under 21. It has put things into perspective. To really focus on today; at the same time to really work on the life you want. You only get one. I took the day easy, enjoyed the nice weather, played with my son. Life is too short for anything but joy. I hope everyone has a great week.

Hi Rose,

Yesterday was a good day for me. It was a beautiful day outside from early morning until late evening. My day began with a serenade from a lovely male cardinal outside my window. I'm grateful for what I received at the food pantry. It's more than we need and I wanted to put use. With two bags of red potatoes and two bags of onions, I made some breakfast potatoes and used the wide variety of fruits they gave me to make a wonderful fruit bowl and made some scrambled eggs and coffee. After a hearty breakfast, we went for a long walk with distancing. I do miss being able to pet people's dogs but it's nice to see all the cute pooches out with their owners and reminisce a bit about dogs we've owned. In the afternoon, I made lemon poundcake with lemon glaze from an online recipe I found. It came out really amazing. I also made homemade iced tea with lemon. They'd given me three bags of lemons. Another thing I miss about my f2f Alanon is that I use to bake things to share. Oh well.. we'll be back to that soon I hope. :)

I'm almost done with a nearly thousand page biography that has been really interesting. As luck would have it, there was a documentary on tv last night about that very person. My SO told me it was on and we watched it together. He finished another historical biography about the same person so it was of interest to both of us. The second half of the documentary is alreay available online but it airs next week on tv. I suggested we wait to see it since I have more of my book to read but should be done with it before the show airs.

I saw you mention in another post that goodwill has opened where you live. That has not happened here but another organization is opening their drive up for donation drop offs beginning on Sunday. I have been doing a bit of Spring cleaning, gathering and separating out things to donate. I find physically getting rid of stuff feels good for me. I get a bit of exercise by gathering and sorting things to donate, create more space in my home and help a good organization that is helping others. Something I don't need, someone else may need very much. It's something I can do right now which helps me feel a little less powerless during our extended stay at home.

Happy Monday!  Hope you're having a good one! ((hugs)) TT

(((((((((((((((((TT)))))))))))))))))))))))) oh I just LOVE tidying up and giving away stuff that I can no longer use or no longer want, but someone ELSE can use...Goodwill is so greedy with their prices, i give my stuff to the "habitat for animals" thrift shop that is not open yet, but THEY use it to help animals, and OH yea, my house feels so organized and nice.....

I did a MASSIVE clean up, tidy up when I decided to look for a roommate (not so happy with this situation) but yea, I have LESS stuff and can find my stuff so much easier....I can envision that lovely male cardinal singing to you.....thanks for the lovely share
