Hope for Today Apr 12

Good morning everyone, and for all who celebrate, Happy Easter!

Todays reading is about the powerful role that sponsorship plays in the program.  It is written from the point of view of someone who has been a sponsor, and how valuable  a part of the healing process that is.  I have not sponsored anyone in the program, but can speak from the perspective of sponsee.  For me, the role my sponsor has had in my life has been one of great magnitude.  When I came to the program, she very gently steered me toward a focus on myself.  She has found ways to be gentle, even when saying things my mind in recovery wouldnt necessarily want to hear!  Somehow, she has known just the words that I have needed- encouragement, warmth, gentleness, honesty.

To put it a little bit more crudely, I have become an expert at deluding myself about plenty, and my sponsor has been there at every step with a gentle reminder to listen and look with clarity.

I am grateful for her presence.   I am also grateful to be here with everyone in recovery.  Wishes for continued safety and good health to all,

Mary

Thank you Mary for your service today, and every Sunday!

Welcome Spring Eternal!

I have had 3 sponsors. 2 previously, and one now. One of them just wasn't the right fit for me, and I thanked her and moved on. I value the sponsor I have today probably more than any other. She gives me a voice of reason and clarity when I cannot find mine!

Jerry - thank you for the translation. I find the Hawaiin culture and language incredibly beautiful. For some reason it gives me peace when I read your words, so I am grateful for the translation! Now that you are living on the mainland, I am thinking it helps you connect to your roots in a more concrete way... anyway, I love it!! Sending you and great health over the interwebs!

Good morning Mary and thank you for your service and the daily! Thank you and Jerry also for your shares/ESH! Happy Easter to all.

I've been blessed with a couple sponsors over the years and each taught me something about me, recovery, the program, life and acceptance of others as they are. They were not all the same and yet I feel blessed simply because it was suggested to me to always keep an open mind and each showed me or taught me something I really needed at the time!

My current sponsor is having some health issues and yet still is graceful, patient, loving and tolerant of me/my needs. She truly inspires me to be more graceful, patient, loving and tolerant of others - almost as much by her words as by her example.

Enjoy the day all - food soon here!!! (((Hugs)))

 smile Kia ora Mary and Jerry...

       ma te Atua e tiaki    te karaiti    te matàîka e te ao katoa

There has been sharing round the group this week on sponsors. And in my first 6 or 8 years the whole group sponsored each other, really. We were a newly started group... and really feeling our way.

For this reason i still get impatient for ESH and somewhat anxious about too much rigmarole. But there was to be a balance here. And being a group member- where we treasure personal secrets [anonymity] and create and build a trust and a bond. There are some limits, and some rewards... which we find out as we go along... ...for me the creation of boundaries- and the magical emotional sobriety... is indeed priceless!

Kia miharo... kia mana, kia mau...  [Participation is the key to harmony.}
