The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Not only were AA meetings and other recovery resources listed, but also resources for families of additcts/alcholics, including Al-Anon.
My prayers go out for sure to those living with active alcoholics during this time. Even about a week ago, some of the "Big Important News" in my state was that it relaxed laws on delivery of alcoholic beverages for restaurants, etc. While I know alcoholism always finds its way, I was just shaking my head knowing now the disease gets to have itself enabled even more easily by having that margarita delivered right to its door.
Remember to use your phone lists from your local meetings. Much love and prayers out to everyone.
Aloha, thank you for sharing this! I am always thrilled to see when the media mention Al-Anon (which doesn't happen very often). The NY Times article did a good job of explaining what Al-Anon is for.
I hope that someone who didn't already know about Al-Anon will find it this way.
I read it! Attraction not promotion, LOL. I've seen numerous articles -- mainstream -- in the past two weeks about 12-step programs, and several of them mentioned alanon.
I've been "attending" zoom alanon meetings in Northern NJ, NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, and FL. It is absolutely fascinating, incredible, and wonderful, to expand one's horizons and recovery...and have all of it at your fingertips. I can't help but think of all the people who say they cannot make it to meetings...well, now you don't have too! How lucky and grateful we should be. More and more people should take advantage of this while we can! I am thoroughly enjoying hearing and experiencing other people, from other parts of the country, and their experience, perspective, insight, and so much more!!!

God, grant me the serenity...to accept the PEOPLE I cannot change...the courage to change the ONE I can...and the wisdom to know it's ME...
Aloha, thank you for the outreach you've been doing here, I appreciate your willingness to share about recovering from the effects of alcohol abuse.
It balances out my disappointment after the article I had read... an interview with a beautiful, young, newly-married celebrity... telling how she and her new husband are surviving this pandemic... with excessive drinking.
