The CV has "come home" to our family, in a way

Our daughter lives in Florida.  Her daughter was in college in Georgia, and came home last weekend.  They are going to do online schooling  I thought good--they will be together and that was comforting.  And our granddaughter, who is introverted, has never wanted to be anywhere but at home.

Just got an email--tomorrow daughter is driving GD back to school.  She'll have a room to herself with bath and kitchenette, in the dorm, meal plan, and a grocer there delivers.  Two friends will be there as well  So far, there have been no cases in that city and only one in the county.

Daughter is very sad, but doesn't really feel safe in FL.  The beach in her county hasn't been closed; there was a festival of some sort, spring breakers, and bikers.  And there are 10 cases in the county and 3 in her small town.

Asking for prayers for their safety.  Daughter is subject to bronchitis.   She has taken in a lot of feral cats and feeds some who are outside.  I don't know how she will manage all that if she becomes ill.  There is no shelter in her county.

Love and hugs to all of you.  May everyone be safe and well.

Temple

Thoughts and prayers for you, your daughter and family from this Hilo Boy.  HP reminded me last evening that it has all the love and care in hand and appreciates all we also do to help our brothers and sisters get by.  Thanks for the rememberance.    ((((Hugs)))) smile

(((Temple))) - sending you and your family tons of hugs, prayers and good vibes. I am doing my part and we are staying inside, only departing for store and the like. However, my 85 YO high risk parents in AZ are in denial and are angry that everything is closed down and they can't go out/about to 'see' their friends. In their area, all the rec. centers are closed which is where they do bingo, bridge, etc. yet all golf courses are open. So, the seniors have instead been going to homes to do their 'thing'...

What really is amazing - bingo has not been closed down. Bingo is serious in a senior community and there are probably 350+ people crammed into a room the size of a HS gym. All the tables hold 10-12 next to each other, with another across from each player. The serenity prayer has become my best friend as I practice loving detachment with them.

I have been saddened greatly by what's happening in Italy, Germany, etc. My heart really goes out to all who are on the front lines, fighting each day for the lives of others. Stay strong in your faith and in your program - both are serving well at these difficult times!

Bless you all for your responses and prayers. Sorry I raised the alarm first thing.

You are all so strong. IAH, if I were going through what you are over your parents I'd be out of my mind. Or maybe I'd be more worried about the kid. I guess those particular retirees all think they've lived their lives and nobody is going to limit them now. Those two seem really, really gregarious.

Just got an update from my daughter. Granddaughter found out that not only would she be having to move out of her much-loved dorm, she would not be all by herself. She'd be sharing a four-bedroom suite with another student and having to share kitchenette and bathroom. One of the reasons she wanted to go back was to have her own space. The other was she thought she could better manage her courses there.

So--they are going tomorrow to retrieve her things That includes all her art supplies. I hope it all fits. Anyway, the two of them will be together and that relieves my mind. GD is okay with it--just glad she knows.

Grandson wants to get us a grocery and drug store delivery service. I'm going to let him. I've tried to prepare, but there is always something and this way we can have some fresh produce from time to time. I hope daughter can have it, as well, where she lives. The hospital where grandson's wife works is giving that to all the nurses for a year. Grandson is going to be teaching his Uni. courses remotely. He's quarantined himself at home.

Thank you for all prayers for tomorrow. both of them are very hygiene conscious and say they will keep distance from others. And they only have to stop for gas once going and coming and know a "very clean place." Bless their hearts.

I'm sure everyone has notice how sweet life is in between the "slings and arrows."

Bless all of your hearts, and may you and your families all be safe.

Love,
Temple

(((Temple))) - I love my parents deeply yet it is kind of like having teenage 'kids' all over again. They do test limits, boundaries, etc. simply because they can. They are active, social, etc. for which I am very grateful. I deeply believe that age is just a number and the more you move/do, the younger you feel/act.

I'm in a mental state (during my pause) where I seek to understand....so, as I try to put myself in their shoes, and the shoes of the many retired seniors in their area, I really believe they subscribe to YOLO - You Only Live Once! Most have had long, great lives and if this virus is what takes them to the next part of their journey - so be it. I think I am dealing with an age/stage issue. My son was kind of footloose about 'all this' thinking he's young, healthy, active, etc. and has changed his tune significantly as our county has virus spread going on.

I am grateful that I only need to decide what's best for me at this time. My AH, who's the high-risk person in our home, was continuing to go to the gym until they closed it....I stopped 2 weeks ago! So - minding my business, staying on my side of the street and trying to be part of the solution is working well for me.

Love and light my friend - yay for delivered food! What a lovely gift!

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Temple)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I just wanted to stop in and give a hug....with Kerry's cancer and NOW caring for my elderly friend up the street who is being "bled to death financially" by her alcoholic and verbally abusive landlord/friend...I took her debit card adn said "I will take charge of your shopping needs" no biggie, I go to walmart...use my card for my stuff...hers for hers....of course she made me promise to put gas in my car and by me some goodies on HER card or she will get mad....I won't do a thing w/out ASKING, not like someone else I know....so yea, its been kinda crazy here....work may shut down due to non essential places being told to stand down...dallas cty said that all non essential workers need to stay home....so I'll sign up for "me care" and take care of Linda...its very part time....cook a late lunch or early dinner (so I make 2 when I cook) and shes only up the street, i can deliver her a NICE meal, not the take out crap he gets her....AND just generally make sure her needs are purchased at wal mart and thats IT....i see her anyway and hang out.....cut and styled her hair and it came out real cute.....when hugging me goodbye, she shoved $20 in my pocket AFTER buying my share of our "power shake" mix stuff, I ddint want it, but she got mad and said I would hurt her if i did not take it ...so ok...I got some pocket money.....so where doors close, others open....this mess of a virus, we got several cases in Dallas cty, and my area.....one old fella died

LETS BE SAFE...basic common sense, which we all got...basic hygiene....stay prayed up and lets get through this TOGETHER

Kerry goes in for pet scan tomorrow....nervous....so worried about my BFF....step 3 step 3 step 3.....God has this covered.....so between her and Linda, I have NOT been bored.....

sorry, i sort of hijacked your thread..........BIG hugs.....

RE: The CV has "come home" to our family, in a way

((Temple)) Your daugher and family are in my thoughts and prayers. We are practicing social distancing at my house and limiting out trips out to stores, communicating by phone and online. We try to get some exercise by going out for a walk each day if the weather is ok. Bf's ex ignored advisories and flew with one of his children, their spouse and new baby to another country for a pleasure trip recently. All came back sick with what appears to be the virus except the son in law. Thankfully, the new mom and baby are rapidly improving. My bf's eldest drove them all to the airport and is quite ill with respiratory issues now. It's unclear if it's due to already underlying breathing issues or this virus or a combination of both because they visited and were sent home from the ER untested and with inhalers. Last night they texted they are not doing well and were considering going back to the ER. Their sweetheart who works in healthcare and is with them. These are people in their thirties. They are having groceries delivered so they don't need us for that. There's been just texting because she doesn't feel well enough to talk. We'll continue to be in communication for updates.

Separation is difficult. I texted my own sibling again yesterday and got no answer. They live in a state with many cases and are older with underlying conditions as is their spouse.

I listened to a daily briefing of their governor and didn't feel encouraged. Finally, four hours later, I called and got an answer. At this point, I had projected and had all sorts fears concerning both of them. I also began growing a resentment imagining they were holed up and drinking because in that state they are considering the opening of liquor stores "essential." I added this into my imaginings of why they might not be responding to my text.

I called four hours later and there was no issue. In fact, he sounded much better than I felt, does not have the virus nor does his wife, is keeping distance and keeping busy at home. He asked about my well-being and told me he has a new and cheap cellphone because his broke. He said there's nothing to signal him that he has gotten a text and he doesn't carry it around the house with him. He said he would call me from time to time to see how I am doing. So all my imaginings and projections concerning them were based on my own fears and the news I've been watching that comes from his state. Reality turned out to be quite different from what my mind was hatching and I'm grateful.

This has been a good reminder to me that by no means should I be complacent but on the other hand I need to careful of Fear > obsession > catastrophsizing !

What I focus on the longest becomes the strongest. For me that needs to be doing what is in front of me, try to take some joy from life as it is, pray and place my trusting in a loving higher power during this difficult time.  Stay well ((Temple&family))) (((everyone))TT

Bless all your hearts.

Thanks so much for sharing your stories. They help to give me perspective and to keep me down off the ceiling.

Rosie, I am so glad that your natural caregiving instincts are not only blessing your neighbor, but tey are doing you good, too. And I am talking about your spirits. I think as long as you can be doing good for others, you are a happy little shining soul.

Thank you, Bud. I pray that you and all of us will be safe.

PnP==Thank you for your prayers and the reminder.

SRU==So glad that things are normal enough that you can be miffed off about something. Grins. If you got on and weren't either laughing or raging about something I'd be worried. And I hope you know I'm teasing. And I am sorry Work is behaving badly.

Tired Tonight--That's what I mean about getting My knickers in a twist. I am having it so much easier than so many.

David, thanks for the hug. I hope NZ catches a break.

Jerry--you always have the best perspective on everything. I hope you are safe there in the Central Valley.

IAH--Bless you. You haven't taken to your bed with ten boxes of tissues, and you'd have reason.

HP bless us all and keep us safe, if that is okay. And Thank Goodness for program. And for each other.

Temple
