Oh, My God

As I wake upon my bed,

Push my way to the day ahead,

I see the aftermath of a home astray

Just like the one where I once played.

Driving down the busy highway,

Make my way through crowded streets,

I see the chaos and the whirling,

See the homeless and the hurting.

And then I close my eyes,

I feel your arms around my soul,

Sense your bright white flame,

Feel the golden light of love,

Realize you know my name.

You speak to me:

“I am the light, I am the day,

I am the night, I am the way,

I am the fruit, I am the tree,

I am you chained, I am you free,

I am all you ever want to be.

I am the father, I am the son,

I am the mother, I am one,

I am the bluebird, the hippo too,

I am your joy, your mountain blue,

I am the desert, I am the brook,

I’m the forest, I’m a daffodil,

I’m the lady bug on your windowsill.

I am the winter, I am the spring,

I am alive in every thing.

I am your husband; I am your wife,

I am the mother of your life,

I am the ocean, I am the stars,

I am as close as I am far.

I am expansive, I am time,

I am infinite, I am sublime,

I am yours, and you, are mine. 

I am the seasons of your life,

I am your peace beneath your strife,

I am your love; I know your loss,

Beneath your turbulence, I bear your cross.

I am the wind, I am the sun,

I am your friend, I am The One.

I am the little child in thee,

I am the greatest majesty.

I am immense, I am minute,

I am the harp, I am the flute,

I am everything you ever conceive yourself to see,

I am the dream from which your life has come to be.

I am the light behind your troubled mind,

I am the answer your questions seek to find,

I am the grass beneath your standing ground,

I am the sweet cool pond, the silent sound.

I am the maker of the world and I am truth,

I am the love within your heart and I am proof

That all you ever know and have and feel and hear and see

Will come to you, through you, as me.

I am all the guidance you will ever need,

I am the miracle within the awakening seed.

I am the homeless man,

I am the aristocrat,

I am that I am…. I am that…

I Am.”

And then, when I open my eyes to thee,

Deep within all that seems to be,

Smiling in peaceful divinity,

Where I am you, and you are me,

Oh my God, I see.
