Life Just Happens

Haven't been around much recently. I was sick a while ago, bad cold, it got really bad one day so i went to the hospital with the hopes of getting some heavy duty antibiotics. They didn't let me leave for 6 days. Turns out I had pneumonia in both lungs and was suffering a side effect of one of my diabetes meds. Needless to say, I was in bad shape. Close to going to the big meeting in the sky, they tell me. But, I got through it. Again. I got released about a month ago and went back to work. Being retired was nice while it lasted, but what can I say. I like working with drunks, when they're not drinking that is.

Been getting back to the meetings and just last week I submitted one of my stories to AFA, Alanon Faces Alcoholism. Don't know if they'll like it, but we'll see. Well, getting off track. Thanks for allowing me to bend yer ear.

Wall l am happy your doing well now that they got you better. Life sure does happen, I went for a physical 4 months ago and now under going surgery this thurs for a full hysterectomy. Not happy at all about this. But they are unsure it could be cancer in my uterus., I guess Life happens right. Just scared to death, did my husband get sober so I could get sick.

Wolfie,

Thank Goodness life keeps happening for you.

If you want some information that could possibly help you if you ever get in a predicament like that again (before you get to the hospital) PM me and I will share with you what I have read recently. And another help for a bad cough that I personally used.

OMG, you made me laugh, (((Wolfie))) when you said this.....I'm still grinning and GRATEFUL that the ole lung stuff did NOT send you to that meet in the sky...we want you HERE!!!!! Take care...that crap is bad...don't tire yourself out..try and Pace yourself...I had that stuff twice and it sucks and its looong recovery if you don't be real careful....I was prone to lung stuff with asthma and Bronchitis, both of which I 90% beat with cleansing foods, but when I get a cold, I am real careful.......take care, mate!!!! Glad you are on the mend

(((Wolfie))) - so, so, so glad that you are on the mend! Pneumonia, double like you had, was a huge wake-up call for me a few years back. I tend to not run a temperature so never really know how sick I am and did not have typical symptoms - just a dry cough for several weeks. I am glad you took action and got treatment and answers! Please, please rest as much as possible - it took me almost a full year to get all the fluid cleared from my lungs as I really, really struggle to 'rest' - it's just a foreign concept for me!

I am currently visiting my parents, but have been blessed recently with taking meetings to a local treatment center. I too really enjoy working with others who are seeking help/hope and feel humbled by each visit. It really, really helps me learn how very important it is for me and my recovery to be/stay humble, open, willing and program focused.

Please take really good care of you and it's great to see you again! (((Hugs))) - PS - hope your story gets published!!!

I have had pneumonia. Terrible thing I have to watch my health carefully I hope you.find the time to get a flu shot and take care of things My health went AWOL when I.was with the now ex A. Two hospitalizations in short periods of time. I.had all the red flags saying I was exhausted The ex A had his own health problems Nevertheless I have to say when I was ill he was truly objectionable. I.am so grateful today that I am no longer willing to put up with people who are objectionable when I am ill. I had an incredible tolerance for majorly selfish persons. That shows where my self worth was Maresie

Thanx for all replies. That pneumonia is long gone. Amazing what oxygen, antibiotics, and a puffer or two can do for beaten and battered lungs. Glad I don't smoke anymore. The biggest problem was the DKA, a nice short way of saying diabetic keto acidosis. I guess my blood was turning acidic, not good. But they fixed it. Everything is pretty much back to normal. So you're stuck with me for now.
