One day at a time in Alanon October 23

Todays entry talks about examining a common place familiar phrase. A lot of times we are told to meditate on it, or take it apart and explore it. We are advised to stand in our own light, how clearly the picture emerges of our shadowing our own happiness by mistaken thinking. Maybe we should just stand outside of just our light so the light can shine on us and on all we do so we can see ourselves and our circumstances with true clarity

If we have Al-Anon, theres no need to stand in our own light and try to solve our problems and darkness. The ways and means that Alanon offers have lighted the way for so many thousands of despairing people that no one can question the power of Al-Anon

So the reminder today is when I am faced with a problem that just seems impossible to solve when I feel trapped and helpless in the situation and cant  see any way out, I need to ask myself whether I am standing in my own light. I must find the Vantage point where I can most clearly see my difficulty as it is and then the answers will come

so often I have been in the situation where I have tried to stand in my own light as the author is talking about here not relying on my higher power, not reaching out to the meetings, not reaching out to my fellow travelers, trying to be independent and take care of everything myself and it has not worked. And thats when the helplessness and the powerlessness comes in and then the panic, the right way is to set my feet firmly in the tools and steps and slogans of Al-Anon and sharing and caring with others So I dont have to rely on my own light.

I thought I would add this to the already terrific dailies everyone is sharing....Hoping the next one is a bit more stimulating??? LOL...I'm back into reading the literature...You all provide most of it here, but I didn't see this one and found it on my shelf and thought why not give this one a try???? anyway, Today was quiet...Took it easy...Rested and was with my feelings..Sharing about her death has helped me , and , of course, the puppies who are like my little shadows...Sipsie taught them well...She wanted them to be "old enough" to look after me when she passed....I see some traits of hers that she imparted on these youngsters....

I didn't just try to "live in my own light"  I reached out..I allowed others to love and comfort me and I leaned on my HP as brother Jerry shared with me on his reply to me, I know I can't "do it all" and I am glad that I don't try..I just do my best...Give HP the rest, which is what I am doing with this....

I am coming to this a day late, but not a dollar short! LOL! I feel enriched by this post... specifically: "Maybe we should just stand outside of just our light so the light can shine on us and on all we do so we can see ourselves and our circumstances with true clarity."

I am glad that you are taking it easy, being good to yourself... honoring Sipsie.

Wishing you peace today as well.
