Welfare checks?

I think my AH is nearing the end of his fight with the disease. He has basically given up and nothing will stop him from his self destruction. He was in the hospital for a week and went right back to the bottle as soon as he was home. He is on full tilt. I moved out and refuse to see him when he is drinking. I keep communication with him to a minimum. He usually texts me everyday. I haven't heard from him for over 24 hours. I am wondering how long I go before I go over to his house and do a welfare check in person on him.

I have accepted that he will die if he does not stop. I also know that there is nothing I can do to make him stop.

When my ex was at his most active I had the police go over because I didn't want to walk into a situation I wasn't prepared for and death was def a possibility. My experience is always go with my gut .. if something doesn't feel right it probably isn't ok. If you go over please don't go alone. Big hugs s :)

I just heard from him so that's a relief.

If the motivation is a welfare check, the police can and will do that. While every case, person, etc., is different, it is hard to live by a clock. You've come a long way to get to a healthy place, and where you are is good and healthy for you. Let the authorities do their job, and you do yours. Your job is for you, about you.

All the best.
