The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
he ODAT reading for Tuesday, September 17 speaks about the importance of working the 12 steps every day regardless of whether we are dealing with alcoholism . The reading suggests that we replace the word alcohol with the name of my problem and move forward it says that we do have power god given that tower over our problems.
if you exercise that power wisely the problem will work out. Before Al-Anon we did everything we could think of to maximize other people and we demonstrated every day that whe could not even manage our own life force When we were doing things we do not want to do
the quote states:"IF I try to fix another person's life I will fail when I fix my thoughts on improving my own I can count on the help of my HP
i LOVE THE STEPS

THanks for your service Betty. I love the steps too! I thought they were useless when I first came to program, along with those silly slogans, but Ive come to respect both. They truly help and guide me through life. I think the steps could be a course in high school on how to cope with anything, but Im sure that wont ever happen. We are those people who need help! I happily accept this help. Im a much better person to myself and others since joining alanon, Lyne
I am grateful to you both, David & Lyne, for always pitching in and allowing me to see your journeys!
I chuckled at Lyne's post, b/c I too often thought the steps and tools were useless! LOL! I am so glad that I put my Ego aside and stayed and kept an open mind and heart! Today I am grateful for the Steps and all those slogans!! LOL!

Thank you for your service and great share Betty! Also many thanks for the other great shares!
I have come to believe that working the 12 steps daily is a vital lifestyle that helps me continue to blossom into a better and better version of myself.
I love the idea of replacing alcohol with the problem. This makes things have a specific focus to identify and work on.
Staying true to what feels good to me and counting on my HP to do the rest is a good motto for me to have every day.
((((((((((((((Betty))))))))))))))))))) as usual...awesome share...and BOY did I need to read this about the steps and communicating with my HP about MY issues......and I agree with our bud, above me....12 steps is my daily "food" for the soul.....and yea, replacing alcohol with whatever problem I am dealling with....accepting and gr8ful that life is fluid so if I am in a bad patch, just work my steps, move forward as best as I can re: self care, stay in my lane, and life CAN get better....I am working for my NOW largest client who promised me 2x per mo. work...hes good to me...nice guy...I'm doing his taxes, so until mid October , hes GOT to work me, LOL
Happy Tuesday MIP! Thank you Betty for your service and the daily! Thanks to all for your shares and ESH. I too love the steps....I remember when I first arrived, I really wanted to perfect this so I could feel 'normal', 'happy' and 'calmer'. I really believed that Serenity wasn't an option for me as I have a racing mind with magical/mystical magnification constantly!
A few 24 hours later, I now know that it's about progress, not perfection. All steps exist for anyone who wants/needs them for a life-changing experiencing. I also love the steps and know that they work well beyond AA & Al-Anon. I have inserted people, places, things, diseases, and much more and found growth, healing and strength. I know each morning I wake up, I am blessed to still be here. I know each morning I remember who I am (a perfectly imperfect healing woman in recovery) who trusts in a God of my understanding to keep me sober, sane, serene and of service. Love and lean into the 3rd Step prayer each morning and consider my recovery and the steps constantly during my day.
This whole golf thing has me baffled - it's a tough nut to crack! As I get frustrated at the slow progress I am making in getting better, I am reminded that through this experience, I am certainly given many opportunities to talk with God, practice patience, tolerance, acceptance, etc. It's another life experience that helps quiet my mind, stay present and trust the process without expectation of the outcome. I own the 'slow learner award' for sure - in life, recovery and also golf!
Hope everyone has had a lovely day. I golfed and then met up with a program friend in need. We had a nice chat and then went forward with our days! Find and keep your joy all - it's so worth it!
