Today's Daily 08/15/19

I am subbing today for Iamhere. Thank you for allowing me to be of service.

Today's Daily is from "The Language of Letting Go," by Melody Beattie and discusses Leaving Room for Feelings:

"We need to allow enough room for others and ourselves to have and work through our feelings. We are people, not robots.
An important part of us - who we are, how we grow, how we live - is connected to our emotional center. We have feelings, sometimes difficult ones, sometimes disruptive ones, sometimes explosive ones, that need to be worked through. This is life. This is growth. This is okay.

Thought for the Day: I can set reasonable boundaries for behavior, and still leave room for a range of emotions.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Growing up, my emotions were just "too much." So I learned to hide them... at least most of them. In my relationship with my Qualifier, that served me well, as 1. I tried not to rock the boat, and 2. If I didn't feel too deeply, emote too deeply, then my reality wasn't "real." Al-Anon allowed me the safe space to accept my feelings (the good, the bad, and the ugly), and the tools to help me manage them. Because let me tell you... they were all over the place! LOL! By the same token, Al-Anon has also helped me to accept my Qualifier, and understand he is allowed to have feelings as well! On top of all that, this program helps me to see what emotions or feelings cross my boundaries, and which are those I need to accept as "his stuff, not my stuff."
Another triple-digit day here in LA LA Land... I hope everyone stays cool and makes their Thursday a great one!!
&
Thank you for your service PosesandPuppies!
Great topic and one that I'm practicing and struggling with. I'm experiencing an intense range of dark emotions as I give space for myself and others. It feels uncomfortable and even "wrong" at times.
I'm grateful for a safe place in Alanon to work things through without judgement.
Just for today: Easy does it for me. Live and let live for others.
In gratitude....
(((((PosiesandPuppies)))) And I'm so grateful that you are part of mine!
Thank you for a great morning start. I had much less anxiety today and am starting to feel more comfortable in my own skin again.
