Same issue keeps popping up ..

Boundary pushing ... lol .. it makes me laugh.  I did wind up outside my hula hoop today and dealing directly with one of our amazing directors .. that consultant I posted about a while back decided to show his butt again.

I really don't blame the consultant however I seriously wished when I approved my timesheet on Friday that I was paid on Monday AND I was paid for hours I didn't work .. lol.  There are things in the department that have made me crazy .. like we are required to have 2 check signers for ALL checks doesn't matter if it's $1.50 .. 2 signers.  This complicates the issue of getting checks out when there are not 2 signers available.  With a holiday week .. people are taking vacations.  All at the same time .. that's not my call .. you know you would think .. that's me .. lol

The consultants got an expectation that if he turns in a TS today he's being paid tomorrow and we have spoiled many of our vendors with our quick turn around.  You know what I have to work 2 weeks before I am paid.  I don't know about anyone else .. I don't get paid the week of my timesheet.  He is very much a bully and I love our IT director who worked to shield me at it as I blared into the trenches .. you know I apologized and said that we don't have check signers until Monday because of the holiday.  We ran checks yesterday for the week.  My thought is his direct report should have contacted us to make us aware of the situation so we could take action accordingly by telling them hey we are only doing a check run this week and after Monday we don't have check signers. (I did not say this because I love this particular director .. LOL)  I did say clearly to this particular director yesterday asking if he was going to be in today and so on.  So I know that's another reason he's being protective of me.  He knows he forgot.

I have some suggestions to help everyone in this situation and hopefully this will be something that will be put into effect sooner than later since we will do the same dance during the holidays.

The other thing is I don't know what I would do if I didn't get paid .. I would be dreadfully upset.  Again .. I have to work before I am paid, I have to wait to be paid.  I am not expecting to be paid 24 hours from my time sheet submittal.

So wait and see.  I didn't loose my temper .. I didn't feel attacked and I told the Director while I feel badly this isn't something I can personally control.

S :)

Ah, the perils and fun of corporate America. Good on you for accepting that this is something you can't control. I deal with this every day. We bend the rules and make exceptions once and our clients expect is as the NORM, even when we've explained it's an exception. Sigh.......And just like you, I get paid 2 weeks after I put in my timesheet!

Sometimes we wind up outside our hula hoop. At least you have awareness about it. That's always a great part of our recovery. We aren't perfect but at least we recognize our defects as best as we can. HUGS! Hope you have a great rest of your week!

Well the irony is I didn't jump through hoops however we were able to get his check signed because it was ready and a second signer came in for a few hours today.

I left him an email and said hey we have your check and reiterated what the Director had already stated and I was clear about this is not setting an expectation and I have some suggestions that I will run by the Director so this goes more smoothly the next time.

So it's now on him if he gets his check today or on Friday .. LOL .. that's up to him. It was ready and he was notified. He can be mad about it .. it is what it is. We don't pay people 24 hours within an invoice being turned in. Any other company he would be waiting at min a week.

I have also made a decision that he needs to pick up his check from his boss not me. I don't want to deal with his attitude. So that's something I will discuss with his boss and then his boss can worry about when he gets paid. LOL!

What I don't like is the entitlement and the demanding attitude he gets. You know what .. sorry for you dude .. not on my floor.

I'm sure if my boss hears about it she will have something to say .. at this point she is out of the loop and I'm choosing to leave it that way until later.

Thanks for listening :)
