The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Just some moments ago someone sent their negative feedback from their unpleasant 1st time mtg in 1990s into locsl al anon email. Just trying trying to understand how to deal with it.
LOL...was that me? I was full of negative feedback when I first got to the rooms and as far as I can remember no one left the groups because of me. They didn't take me much seriously because I was a newcomer and knew nothing about the disease and/or how to recover from it. I did know how to express anger and negativism for a while until I followed thru on the suggestion of "keep coming back" (it works when you work it). Glad that's over and I follow thru on the suggestion. ((((hugs))))

As Jerry has stated . many new people have a negative reaction to alqnon qt first . i would simply remind the new member that it takes time and effott to absorb the principles of progrqm and simply suggest that they keep an open mind and keep coming back
I guess I am not understanding the context here.... why would you feel compelled to respond/answer to someone's negative feedback from so many years ago?
My gut says - we don't ever have to "defend" Al-Anon, or our chosen program of recovery. If it works for you, then the proof is who you are becoming, each and every day.
You don't have to engage in every fight/argument you are invited to.
Hugs
Tom
