Today's Hope May 29

Hello MIP!

Today's share is from Today's Hope.

The author discusses decisions, and how decisions we have made and have not made have led is to where we are in life. Rather than blaming others for where we are, the author suggests that we recognize the actions we chose to take or chose not to take as the reason we are where we are. The author also reminds  us that we do not need to feel powerless. We cannot control others and we cannot control the momentum of a situation, but we can control our responces to both, and we can make decisions to respond in a way that we would like.

The reminder: The bottom line is that I am responsible for my own well-being, my own happiness. The choices and decisions I make regarding my life directly influence the quality of my days.  Kathleen Andrus

The quote: Silence is a source of great strength.  - Lao Tzu

-------

I have often felt out of control, looked around and wondered How i got to where i am. Before finding Alanon, i was not sure that i had any control. Thanks to the program, i have been able to recognize where i have power and control and where i do not. One if the things i do have power over is myself and How i decide to respond to things. Waiting and being silent until i am sure of How i want to respond is one of the Alanon tools i use most often.

I have a blissful week in the woods this week and although i do have to work a bit, I'm enjoying the peace of the trees and the songs of the birds. This is one of the things i choose to do to refuel my spirit, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to do so. I hope you make today A great day!

It is so empowering knowing we have control over our own happiness.

Instead of drifting around and reacting to any given circumstance, I get to make choices when situations arise about how I want to show up in them. I'm no longer at the will of others, running the hamster wheel of blame "I'm only behaving this way because YOU did such and so!"

Thank you for the share. Enjoy the woods. Nature has really been calling me lately, too! Need to get out and enjoy!

Thank you Scorpi for your service. I was wondering about a decision I made many years ago. I dont know if it was good or bad for me, but really, what is the point of even wondering about it? Nothing can be changed about it. I can better spend my time thinking about this day and how to make the best of it. I need to help myself get out of a low mood I am in. I feel confident that I can have a decent day thanks to my alanon tools, Lyne

Happy Hump Day MIP Family. Thank you Skorpi for your service and the daily. Thank you all for your ESH and shares. I truly believed and lived a life full of if/then scenarios prior to recovery. I truly had my happiness and 'success' tied directly to position, status, bank account, home, others, etc. It was eye-opening to me to hear and accept that nobody can 'make me anything' - I am 100% responsible for my life/happiness/moods/etc.

I am grateful to know, believe, accept and act as if I am the keeper of my fate, my mood, my attitude and my happiness. Al-Anon has given me the tools to change my mood if/when needed and to bring it back to me when I am obsessing about other people, places and things. I no longer believe that life will be good or will be better - I embrace that today is awesome and the best is yet to come!

Enjoy the day and please say prayers for all affected by this wacky weather - tornados, floods, etc. - it's just unreal and my pray is that it ends soon!

Thank you Skorpi for sharing your thoughts on this powerful subject. Prior to program, I inadvertently tuned my power over to others and blamed them when my life was unhappy. Today, usingn the slogans, Steps and my HP i know that I m responsible for my own happiness and all I need to do is take the next right action and trust HP.
