The reading for Monday, 1/7, speaks of the value of taking a half hour for oneself each day. The author says if a half hour seems to long, start with 5 minutes and work up to the half hour. The author often uses this time to pray or meditate, so they can find peace and power with HP. The author has also found out they can tolerate and even enjoy their own company.
The quote for today says: Take rest; a field that has rested gives a beautiful crop.
I do agree with this idea of having time alone with oneself each day. I fit prayer in each day, and weather permitting I walk with my dogs close to a half hour, and often chant a meditation as I walk. I have turned my self-hatred into tolerance, acceptance, and I love parts of myself now. I still see my flaws and will continue to work on those, but the negative no longer dominates my thinking. Alanon gives me a variety of tools which have helped me be comfortable with myself, and the time to take a daily rest is a great activity, Lyne
hey Lyne.......thanks and great reminder....I do this at night...i get out the incense, and I breathe and cast my burdens and thank the universe for meeting my needs, etc., and I SEE myself in better situations all around.....the deep breathing, checking in with me, step 10 emotionally/mentally/physically, yea....ME TIME...and NO GUILT...if someone calls?? i let it go to VM, till I am done with my ME time
I love the reading today. There is a lot going on in my work world right now and my home world as well. Remembering to take the time I need for myself to sit with myself and be still is vital to my serenity, especially when things are moving quickly!

Thank you Lyne for your service and the daily! This is an awesome reading and a great reminder. It is so easy for me to get all wrapped up in 'life' and neglect me and my recovery. I do practice taking time each day just for me, and prefer the morning as it's done and can't be taken away! I love my early mornings with my HP, my coffee, my sweet dog and the quiet! Giving the gift of time back to me feels way more normal and comfortable than when I arrived!

I am not a morning person. However, like Iamhere, I find my "me" time is absorbed by the trappings of the day. By the time I roll into bed, I usually fall asleep trying to meditate! LOL!
So I have begun getting up earlier than I have to. To have a cup of Joe and check in here. It's become a daily ritual that I truly miss if I can't do it that day!

Hello Lyne and MIP Family , prior to program I was so very busy running here and there that i had no time to rest, meditate or pray.
