ODAT READING Jan 1 2019

The ODAT Reading for today, January 1 Suggests that this year is a book of clean blank pages on which we can write a record of our experiences as we move through the days.  The daily use of the Al-Anon program will assure us that we can learn lessons, maintain our serenity and act with courage and wisdom .

We must remember that we turned to Al-Anon as a last resort because  we were living with a problem that was too much for us  and we did not have the tools to deal with it  . Today I know that I can deal with this problem.

By applying Al-Anon to myself, to my thoughts and my actions everyday.I keep myself safe from what  others say and do.  I will not allow the behavior of others to make blots or smears on the daily  pages of my year . I will try to avoid these at all costs
We must remember that we can live life only one day at a time . Trying to do too much too soon destroys efforts  : I  must  be guided through the hours and minutes of each day and bring every problem to HP for guidance

((((((((((Betty)))))))))) Thank you for your service....

earlier, I took the two envelopes that held "2018 bills" and "2018 receipts" I looked at the envelopes, stuffed with both and thought...This is the financial part of my year 2018...I sat on the bed with my 2 envelopes and thought about what about the REST of 2018?? What am I filing away re: other thngs?? Emotional..Physical..Mental, etc.,

and I made a prayer, sort of a prayer/thank you to the universe for allowing me to SEE what I have to release and "file" regarding traits and thoughts and behaviors, that do not serve me anymore...Let me "file' them in the historic place in the office where all the stuff of "yesterday" sits, in big baskets in a big shelf, let me file all those things that no longer serve me as I move into a better, healthier me...They will sit there, NOT forgotten as lessons they gave, information they provided me with, reference that I may have to re-visit, but still , they are "filed" away with the rest of the stuff that represents, bills paid...lessons learned...stuff overcome.....

May 2019 bless all your prayers......

Whole my life is certainly so much better than it has been I still have so many challenges  This reading helps me to keep it one day at a time. I find it very helpful not to be pushing too far ahead     I am very grateful to be calm and peaceful after the holidays because that feeling is entirely unfamiliar to me.

Good morning MIP! Happy New Year to one and all and thank you Betty for the daily and your service. It seems to me that we tend to reflect on the year closing as well as contemplate the year beginning around this time each year. I am not a fan of resolutions simply because I am one of the majority that struggles to stick with them.

What recovery has given to me is the ability to reflect and contemplate each day! I don't need a year to close or a new one to begin to look for growth opportunities and/or improved ways of living/being/doing. Each morning, upon awakening, I get a clean slate, a new start, a new day to be, grow, learn.

I learned early on in recovery that holidays, events, etc. are just another day in recovery. If we do what has been suggested to the best of our ability, each day is a new beginning and a gift. I love putting myself horizontal each night, reviewing my day, looking for what went well and what I can improve. For me, this clears my mind for better sleep/rest and more often than not, I wake up serene or at least neutral.

So, as we begin a new year, I find myself grateful to just be. Just being here, present, imperfect, alive, etc. is more than enough for me today! I know if I stay aligned with recovery and a HP, I can live life on life's terms, one day at a time. Enjoy the day all - it's very cold here ... certainly winter has arrived....I am meeting some softball gal pals for dinner tonight and look forward to catching up. Make it a great day!

Thank you Betty for your service and this reading which has greatness. The ideas that this is a new year with a clean slate is like a breath of fresh air. And for you to remind me not to let others darken my days, I shall work on every day. Happy New Year, Lyne

Thank you Betty for the reading. I had to ponder this page as I was reading it this morning. A clean slate is a good idea and I have to remember I did come to this program for a reason

((((Betty)))) thanks for this daily and yep, I hear ya....I keep me safe with my program tools...detach from others actions, unless I owe an amen..then I take care of it and its done...and I agree...I'm NOT gonna let others "blot or smear" my daily pages of my BRAND NEW YEAR.....Fresh start...I, too will avoid the toxins at all costs....peace adn serenity, no matter what I have to do....I am looking within more often for guidance and "what to do" when those little, annoying, set backs occur that try to distrupt my day....I breathe...step back....had a little software issue earlier....I went out and met a recovery mate for some caramel coffee at Starbucks....detached...came back...issue fixed it self......thank you for your service and your share..............grateful hugs
