The reading for today asks the question:  what is meditation?  Some of the answers are:  spiritual awareness (every action can serve a spiritual purpose), concentrating on breathing while counting, repeating the Serenity Prayer, watching thoughts in the present day, focusing on one thing like a flower, and picturing HP's hands while putting problems and worries in those hands.

--------------------------------------------------------------

When I meditate regularly, I do feel calmer and better.  My schedule has changed and I am not as regular as I would like to be.  My meditation combines deep breathing with about 6-8 positive affirmations.  Once I have finished the affirmations, I try to breathe and lie still, keeping my mind as still as I can make it.  Lyne

Good morning, MIP! And thanks for your service, Lyne!

I use guided meditations quite a bit, but my favorite kind of meditation is when I have time to sit in a quiet place with my eyes closed and listen without judgement or thought to the sounds around me.

Thank you, Lyne for your service. Morning, skorpi! Thank you for your ESH.

Lately I have been "into" Tapping... which I now see is a form of meditation while engaging the left and right hemispheres of your brain. I used to traditionally meditate at a Restorative Yoga class... it was always my favorite part of the class!! LOL!

I don't really "meditate" persay but I will sit up after I get the kids to school, before the babies get up and read/drink coffee. I realize now that it's probably my zen time as I write in my planner/prayer book and think about what I have to do today. Sometimes It goes to plan and sometimes it doesn't but I always feel better after I have that moment to myself before the rush of the day sets in. A long time ago my therapist said I should try closing my eyes and thinking about going up a rose, its petals...the water falling down and its just basically describing it in your head with as much detail as possible. I do that before bed and it always makes me fall asleep.

Thank you Lyne
Affirmations never worked for me because I guess it is words and words never meant anything much to me because I was lied to so much growing up. But I do do the visualizations. Like I will deep breathe and relax and get centered in my body and I will visualize myself casting the burdens on to my higher power with van and walking free from whatever it is that I need help with. Seems to work for me. And I dont think there is any cookie cutter way of meditation. Whatever works, I say do it

Thank you Lyne for your service, the daily and ESH. Thanks to all for the shares above me....sitting still is a challenge for me, so I can center better on nothing but the space I exist in with music. I am a deep-breathing soul when I am breathing in the power greater than I around me and I exhale largely considering 'that' my burdens. I feel lighter, loved and centered when I can slow/stop my brain and give in to what is and give away what is not.

I do a repeat of the Serenity prayer at night time to sleep instead of counting sheep or other....works every time!!!
